Is it worth trying to cut on cycle?

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

In a conundrum and would appreciate some advice from those who've been there.

I used to be a total ecto and could eat anything I wanted and never see the kilos change, but for some reason this is no longer the case. This year I've been finding it a breeze to put on weight, both muscle and fat. My BF has shot up about 18-20% and it kinda took me by surprise.

I've heard a few times here that to get the most out of a cycle one should be 10-15% BF. So here's my problem: Should I try to lose weight for a bit? How do I do that and not f*ck up my cycle gains? Less carbs now or keep them high? TBH, I have never even bothered to take note of how to gain size while worrying about fat; it's never been an issue. I don't even know where to start...

so wtf designates something as clean? sounds jewish.

EDIT: Obviously (Or so I thought) I don't really think that clean foods are jewish. This was a joke. But I was interested in hearing more people chime in on why clean foods = lower fat, rather than just a healthier body.

Ex Google...

If you got it out of a package, it's not clean. In fact, as a rule, if it didn't require significant perparation, it probably isn't clean.

Not sure what ex google means, but if it means go ask google, thanks I have but I also like to ask real people. Google gives a lot of shit mixed in with the good stuff.

So basically, non processed food is clean food.

Interesting, I thought the organic buzz was all about nature not getting cut...

when foods are processed lots of their nutritional value is lost and/or replaced with man made and unhealthy fillers/stabilizers which add taste and satisfaction but through empty calories, sugars and not the best kind of carbohydrates. basically if its in a box, bag or any type of packaging and its not from a health food or organic food store then chances are its probably processed.

Thanks for proving my point kid. This is why your now half way through a cycle and having to have basic stuff like what constitutes clean foods and other simple concepts such as bulking and cutting explained to you like a beginner.

You should only be considering gear when everything else is optimal and sorted or your going through a lot of hassle, expense and effort and not getting the results you should.

And to answer your question, finish up your abortion of a cycle and worry about cutting afterwards. For now just work out your basic bmr, cal expenditure vs intake and use a simple cal counter to design a diet thats high in lean proteins with good carbs and fats that still gives you an excess (or just copy a basic clean bulking diet).

Best of luck with your fitness goals in 2011.

Come on, Maassive. You may not agree with Lurker, but his point - that ideally you'd have more experience before starting a cycle - is a valid one. And I don't think you can gauge the worth of someone's post by their postcount. There are plenty of experienced members with low postcounts, and at the other end of the spectrum, there are people who post a lot, but it's crap!

Yeah, I concede your point about post counts.

the problem is Lurker doesn't know anything about me, what I eat, how I train or any of that stuff. I don't know him (partly due to his low post count, i.e. low involvement here). And yet his post is telling me how to live my life and stating that I 'don't even have a clue about basic nutrition and training'.

Bullshit. For the last 3 months I've pretty much eaten nothing but 'clean' food, based on a lot of reading I do (from BB.com, T-nation, Here, etc). I eat Tuna, Rice, Chicken, and raw oats as a staple all day while at work. I train like a fuckin slave and consequently I have put on 15kg this year. And yes, I will certainly post pics to prove it at the end of my cycle.

My question was about whether or not I should cut back on carbs, and secondarily related to why unprocessed food was better for cutting up. I like to ask questions, even if I have an answer for them myself, because I appreciate the advice coming from people with years of advice, such as yourself.

I just get annoyed when people go around giving their opinions about who's allowed to do aas etc. Who the f*ck asked Lurker whether or not I'm allowed to do one? How long have I been training, Lurker? What does he even know about what my goals are?

It was advice, thats the beauty of it, you can take it or leave it.

He was just trying to help.

From what i read in your posts above it sounds like you didnt have a clue about basic nutrition. You dont know what clean food is and yet your on gear... Lurkers comment was pretty fair in my opinion. Chill out man i dont think he cares about your life that much

Im a low post count user too... So ignor me lol

i think masssive just didnt understand the term 'clean food' as opposed to what actual good foods are.

the point of this thread wasnt weather he should be using whatever or weather he shouldnt... so really if you cant contribute a post to do with food and nutrition which was what this thread was meant to be about then expect it to go in one ear and out the other

Hey Fella............

Have a read up on High-GI, Low-GI carbs, & what types of foods they are found in....

Also most of your processed foods tend to contain Trans-fatty acids... Your body has great difficulty breaking them down...

You might want to introduce more fresh vegies, meat, & some fruit into your diet, & cut out the processed/packaged stuff that's responsible for piling on those wobbly pounds.....

Although if you are wanting to gain muscle on cycle, you shouldn't be worrying about your waistline.....

You should expect to add a bit of bodyfat, to go with the extra muscle....

:D

However, on a second reading I want to say that actually Lurker was just offering what would many times be a decent post. Sorry folks, roid rant.

However,

did get me thinking about something else related to the reasons why we do aas and so I will post a new thread shortly in which I'd be very interested to hear a variety of feedback.
