Shoulder Injury Prevention

Hey guys,

thought i'd through a comment in the place where people care about function over form for this one...

I've been steadily moving up in my weights as I'm 4 months back from 1 yr off because of a back injury. However, recently I'm starting to notice a lot of numbness in my arms and tightness in my shoulders.

I've noticed that a lot of guys include a shoulder rehab/ROM section into their workout and was wondering if anyone out there could shed some light on how to maximise performance without fucking my shoulders up...

With regards numbness in your arms: Does it radiate down to your middle two fingers..?

yes radiates down, but to two outer fingers, so pinky and ring. It's uber annoying actually, and starting to happen more frequently. Just holding DBs for lunges causes numbness.

Oh Shit......

Sounds like you've got nerve compression somewhere at the back of your neck....

Best go see a sports physio.....

I started getting it years ago, but just my left arm & when I was asleep..

Generally at the end of a course of gear (when I was bigger)...

Then it started in both arms about 4 years ago, & radiated down to my middle fingers, felt like they where being chopped off with blunt wire cutters....

Apparently my posture was crap, (head & shoulders bent forward) I was putting excess pressure on my traps that were always pumped & rock hard....

I also had a muscular imbalance to my scapular & rear delts....

And wear of my upper 3-6 vertebra... X-rays confirmed this....

I had physio, altered my posture (when standing, seated, & sleeping) Worked on the muscular imbalance, & so far everything is ok....

No numbness, or pain for the last 2 years....
