Thought I would start a 2011 journal. I have been le sick with Campylobacter :puke: the last 3 weeks so alas haven't lifted in 3 weeks

This is the longest I have been away from le iron

x2 rounds of antibiotics and a visit to le hospital I am finely feeling betterer :D

Managed to locate the gym this morning it is still in the same place as I left it minus a window and half a bench........ :-s

So I have just picked up where I left off. I assumed I had lost strength as I haven't managed to hold on to much food for 3 weeks and have lost 3kg. :o

Last year I started the year with 5x5 then did 6 months of Westside.

I started this year with the all popular singing and dancing Sheiko :dancing: I did x2 rounds of #29 and now I am into #37. I intend to continue to #40 then test strength with #32 in an increasing volume cycle.

Anyway if you've read all that you have done well!

On with it!

Week 3 Day 1

Warm up GMs 8x2 bar

1x5 25

2x4 30

2x3 32.5

Squat:

1x5 25

I stayed slightly lighter than I should have, this was enough for today. I will see how the rest of the week pans out and whether I need to re jig max numbers.

I am so glad to be back at le gym and ate x4 breakfasts in celebration  =P~

Hiya Vee,

Glad to hear your health back to normal :)

I have done 5x5 and 5,4,3 type training cycles in the past and am just wondering what impact westside had on your bodycomposition / lean mass gain (before you got sick) - much change?

I can appreciate it will significantly increase strength from all the info out there, just curious from a bbuilding viewpoint tho.

Thanks

ds

Thanks DS :D TBH I don't really know, I have been concentrating on strength and haven't measured myself or taken any photos for well over a year! Just been going on whether clothes still fit or not! I would think I have added muscle as I am stronger :-s I hope I have gained muscle anyway!!! I have found muscles I never knew existed doing WSB

Yay, you're back! Great to hear your lurgy has gone. Looks like the trip to the vet did you good!

Yes it is quite amazing what a few death threats from the vet can do

So although slamming straight back into le trainering seemed like the sensible thing to do I had a LARGE delivery of DOMS yesterday and I have been stumbling around today. Oh how I love thee DOMS <3

At least I feel like I have achieved something \:D/

tricking yourself!? nice

4 more.... 3more.... 2 more.... 1 more! surprise! 10 more.... 9 more...

Heh have you ever tried it? It does work! It works because you are breaking a big job into small manageable pieces and then it doesn't seem so big and the brain just beleives whatever you tell it!

Another trick I've used when necessary...once you reach the half-way point of the set, start counting down. The brain seems to like the numbers getting smaller, and seeing the end getting nearer. It works I tell ya

I wonder if "one, one, one" would work too!?

I had a TP that wouldn't count the first rep so I always did one extra rep- he was big meanie :pfft:

I will save my flying for tomorrow.

All felt good, squat feels taxing had to have a bit of a sit down inbetween the last few sets. I usually don't have much rest between sets like just enough to tick it off in my book then go back to the bar, barbell that is not pub.

I might go watch CDs tomorrow get some inspiration, anybody else going to watch?

Fridee today! TGIF! :gunfire:

Fun way to work triceps, rope push-down, but trying all the while to maintain shoulder-width separation between hands... really has you working the mind-muscle connection.

Or, of course, skullcrushers, overhead extensions, and CG press

Hard to believe how it's possible, but OB and Ruth seem to better their already well-run comps every time they host one  For a few noobs we did ok I think, I was one of the guys on the right-hand side (as you're looking at the stage), only one in shorts, oops haha
