Hey fellas, I think I need some advices ...

my girl looked at me in the weekend and was like 'wow, I can't believe how much your ass has grown! - you have a booty like a black woman'.

Yeah, I'm a dude, so... that aint real cool.

I don't actually work out my ass (don't even know how) but I do a lot of squats.

Just for the record, she later said that she liked it, and I feel that it is important to point out that I don't have a fat sitter - this thing is all muscle - but she is right in that it is starting to get pretty massive.

Advice anyone?

Hah, Maassive, we should start a group. :D

For what it's worth, here's what I do to minimise my maximus:

- No lunges. I can't do lunges without it working my arse more than my quads, so I don't do them at all.

- Arse-to-grass squats. This sounds counter-intuitive, but it was suggested by HumanPerformance, so I gave it a try. And lo, it works! Make sure you take a wide stance (almost a sumo stance) and squat between your legs. You'll find you use a lot more quads and adductors, and less glutes.

- Mid-depth leg press. Move the tray more than just a couple of inches, but don't go so far back that your knees are around your ears - it's all glutes at that point. Recently I've been doing more high-volume stuff (20+ reps), which lets me use a lighter weight, which in turn lets me focus on pushing with my quads more.

- Leg extensions. No glutes here!

I have a big ass. It's genetics. Glutes are a muscle too so you can't ignore it. Maybe you could give your girlfriend a lesson.

If your ass is too big it is really noticeable and does have a negative appearance in relation to the over-all balance of your physique. Lots of good advice on getting the quads to fire first on this thread. Just make sure the rest of your body is in proportion to your dominant glutes or you will start looking like an extra out of the movie "Bad Taste"!
