yea im a 'mesomorph' so Iv gotta work extra hard to gain weight, my natural weight is around 74-75kg, so to get to 80kg was not to hard but the 85kg goal seems like a mountain away! haha that day will be faaaarking great..till then EAT EAT EAT EAT

The fastest I ever grew was when I trained with a short full-body routine three times a week, doing one or two sets of 10 for deadlifts, bench, OHP, chins, rows, and assorted detail work. Eating a lot goes without saying, but I went from around 165 lbs to 195 lbs in about eight to ten weeks doing that.

I'm as ectomorphic as it gets, and I still seem to respond very well to high-tonnage methods spread out over multiple workouts. Brief-and-intense methods haven't ever worked out well for me as a long-term approach.

Ecto-meso maybe. Way too many people claim meso but pure mesomorphs are pretty fucken rare - I have only seen a few in my lifetime.

Someone without training with stats like:

19 (abitrary)

6ft (abitrary)

<90kg

12-15% bf

benches 60kg easy for reps first time they touch a barbell

can claim to be the real deal imo

Ruhl is about as close an example I could find when I googled.

With respect to "ectos grow best to pyramids" etc I really don't understand that. They may be genetically inferior but they don't respond to training any differently than others do. Mesos should do just as many compound exercises as ectos. Ectos may recover/grow/get stronger slower but one human is no different to the next when it comes to response to different types of training...

Yeah meso doesn't mean aesthetic. Greg Kovacs, Noah Steere etc are examples of big dudes w/o great proportions.

The bb.com test is very broad, I got meso from it aswell. If you were to put everyone in the world in to 3 groups you would have a massive spread of bodytypes across each category.

I jumped the gun a bit - you weren't claiming to be a pure meso.

From this I would say meso-ecto. Even that is a loose label. So many factors to take in to account.

Worth noting that somatotyping is not very useful..about one in 10,000 (from memory) is a 'true' ecto, endo or meso. The vast majority of people have a roughly equal level of characteristics from each of the three types.

Found it. Original research done by William Sheldon:

Atlas of Men: A Guide for Somatotyping the Adult Male at All Ages. New York: Gramercy Publishing Company, 1954.

This book is the basis of somatotyping. Amusingly, people use these somatotype labels with no idea that everyone people are a mixture of the three.
