RIP Shaun Lester

Fellow bodybuilder, NZBB forum contributor and iron brother Shaun Lester passed away last night after battling a brain tumour for 2 years.

Shaun's first competition was at the Musclemania Australia champs in 2004.

He then competed in the NZFBB, winning the Taranaki champs 2 times and placing at the Wellington champs and the NZFBB Nationals on 2 occasions.

Shaun was really only just starting on his road into bodybuilding and had many goals that he wanted to achieve in bodybuilding but time was too short for him. We would often be in the gym together most evenings and between sets solve the problems of the world.

Shaun and I had a gym together " Elevation" where a number of top Taranaki bodybuilders have learned their trade. One memory I have from " Elevation Gym" is when a blind man and his wife wanted to join our gym, I said it would be too dangerous for him and we ended up in a heated argument. Shaun stepped in and said I will look after him. Every workout Shaun would lead the blind guy by the hand around the gym from station to station. One more memory I have is from last winter after Shaun had his first operation, on the sideline on a sunny saturday morning watching our kids play rugby together, special.

I also learned of this this morning he was one of my ex husbands best mates...so I had the opportunity to meet and also become friends with him. Lovely and genuine dude, very down to earth and awesome to be around. He will be sadly missed. My thoughts are with the Lesters...arohanui

It was wonderful to make your acquaintance, share some laughs and good times. The fun backstage at comps. It was sad that the last two occessions we met, you were in hospital.

Like many we're speechless and broken right now.

Tragic I can't imagine what his family must be going through. What was shauns user name?
