got a good roll on bro...keep hammering it 8)

Here's hoping it keeps on rolling

Other than the buffet, not much brother. Training's goin good though.. Hows you and your wahine? Are you guys still at Netfit?

Good to hear you're back at it. We're doing well, same as always. Yep, still at Netfit. Give us a shout if you want to come up for a lift one day.

2-June

Front Squat, up to 140, 120 / 3x2

Close-grips, up to 115, 90x8

pumpnswole for incline DBs and pushdowns

Weighed 82.9 and am not sure where the extra food is going. I'm about to consider 140 owned and set my eyes on breaking through to the 145 in the next 7-10 days.

Close grips are still moving up nicely. 115 went up with enough speed that 120 might have been on the cards (the trade-off being that I rested a lot longer than usual before hitting it). Nice to see this moving back up despite putting benching on the back burner.

cant complain with the gains youve been getting squating to a maxx 5 days, goot to see the bench is coming up too

Six days

Do you bench press?

As little as possible these days.

3-June

Squats, up to 170, 140 / 6 singles

Push Press, up to 85, 70x8

Chins, +25 / ladders x1/2/3 for 3 rounds, BW x10

toning for lats & delts

Besides hitting the 170, I also bumped my last unbelted rep up to 155. Adding carbs back in is definitely helping, even if it's not reflected on the scale just yet (83.6 on the way in).

how much sets usually leading up to your max single?

Normally goes:

Bar x lots, sometimes two sets

60 x 5-8, sometimes two sets

100 x 3

110 x 2

120-150 in 10kg jumps, all singles

add belt

160

stop if it's a slow day, jump 5-10kg by feel if things feel good

As the top single goes up, I drop some of the lighter sets and the 5kg jumps, so say if I were hitting 180 regularly I might go straight from 100 to 120 or 130 before starting the singles.

It usually works out to be 10-12 sets including warmups.

4-June

Front Squats, up to 140, 120 for 3 singles

DL (hunched & hooked), up to 200, 180x3, 140x8 (stiff-legged)

pumpntone for biceps & forearms

Pretty meh session. Front squats feel like 145 will break through within the next few workouts. Had no stamina on the back-offs however, so I cut them early.

Pulling is weird. 200 was fairly hard. I gave 210 a shot but it didn't feel right so I aborted before it left the ground. Right now I'm thinking that all the quad strength and previous fast-pulling helped the blast-off strength but hasn't covered my follow-through. Will address this in coming weeks.

time for some racks from below the knees perhaps?

Nah, I'm getting away from all that stuff... will mostly be more pulling off the floor with heavier singles. The most I'd do for assistance moves would be pulls from a slight deficit or a back-off set of stiff-legs like I did yesterday. Messing around with the lift in bits and pieces has never worked out all that well for me. Bringing the squat up + more heavy pulling has proven itself.

6-June

Front Squats, up to 130*

Close-grips, up to 105

* The bar slipped off my shoulders at the bottom so I had to do an emergency dump onto the pins. That was my sign to call it another light day and head home.

The hangover probably has something to do with this

7-June

Squats, up to 170, 140 / six singles

Inclines, up to 100, 105 assisted, 90 / 5x2

Chins, +30 / 5x2

The lights were back on tonight. Top unbelted set was back at 155 and hit 170 with the belt without too much of a grind. Backoffs were all smooth. Weight is up a smidge but 170 is still slightly over 2xBW so I'm cool with that for a casual max.

One of the OLers had on a Broz shirt tonight. The power of overtraining is spreading.

That's technical terminology, hombre.

Competition max -- when you get up on the platform with all the adrenaline rush and elevated heart rate, otherwise called training on nerve. Similar deal when you train on stimulants or get really worked up to hit a lift. Lots of nervous energy goes into the lift.

Training max -- just go hit it cool, no getting worked up, no stims, no sulking for 10 minutes. Just walk up and hit it calm as you can, no nerves.

Training max you can hit every day. Comp max, not so much. One of the goals here is to bring up the Tmax so that the Cmax doesn't work you over so much.

10-June

Squats, up to 160

Push Press, up to 80, 85*

Inclines, 85 / 3x3

Chins, +20 / 5x3

* That damn muscle in my upper back seized on the second rep with 80, and wasn't cooperating at all for the 85 rep. Prolly screwed up my squatting too, but either way wasn't feeling too springy tonight so left it in the tank.

11-June

Fronts, up to 120

Strict Press, up to 60x3, 65x2, 55 / 3x3

DL, 180 / 5 singles (hunched & hooked), 150x8 (stiff-leg)

Upper back was seized up all last night which made for very bad sleep, and the fronts just felt heavy to hold in the rack position so I left it at 120 when it started to mess with the bar position.

On the other hand I think I Broz'd the muscle back into shape by pressing again, so maybe I'll get some sleep without stabbing neck pains tonight.

DLs responding as hoped.
