Thanks mate. I had my surgery in August last year and 6months on im still struggling a bit. I also a quite a big shoulder surgery at the same time where they removed a very big sist among other things.

The end result is im stuck with 6 screws. 4 for my shouder and 2 at the upper end of my bicep where i tore the peck that keeps the tendons in place while it heal and grow back on the bone.

the reason the bruising is on the bicep is the pec attaches on the humerus so a complete tendon tear would result in the intense bruising on the bicep because thats where the tendon tore from

if it tore off the sternum it would bruise on the pec take a look at marcus ruhl from last years iron man he has a torn pec starting from the sternum

Still bizarre because the tendon doesn't attach that low on the humerus

Dark, how does the pec look now? Much different?

Well before the surgery it was quite disfigured, after it looks a bit better. And i also had bruising on my peck area too. That photo was taken just a couple of days after the tear. the bruising got alot worse before it got better. I did not take alot of photos as it kinda grossed me out.

Hope that explains a bit. I now have a very big ass scar with little disformaty. I will load a photo of it tomorow.

sorry to hear about that!

Makes me nervous about trying my target of 70kg dumbbell presses!

Have seen a few guys around with torn pecs and still in the game so time will heal

From what I've heard, it comes down to the surgeon and the effort they put in to it

Good to hear that it isn't too bad

Although i can admid that i might not have had the best surgeon, i think he did an outstanding job. Well apparently it actually took 2 of them. The main surgeon told me i was too much of a big boy to take me on alone.

All and all i think it turned out ok. The recovery is a bitch though. Like i said before i had my shoulder done at the same time they did the peck and it did not look very pretty in there according to him. He had his work cut out for him. I believe they have given me about 9-12 months before i will be able to get back to full strenght and start throwing some steel around.

But i make progress everyday and thats good enough for me.

Cheers Guys

Good luck with the recovery Darkmanx. Its obvious that you lift heavy. I guess you need to work a bit lighter until everything heals & strengthens up. Unfortunately most guys like you that lift hard are subject to some injuries. Its amazing how the body adapts & allows you to work around it. Take Care.

Yes it does, the pec major attaches at the bicipital groove of the humerus so that photo is bang on, the top end is where you take a pinch of skin for a fat test.

I know that but it looks like the center of the bruising is the middle of the bicep where it doesn't attach. As dark said though, it wasn't the only bruising that occurred so doesn't seem that strange now

OH SHAVE YOUR CHEST! Just kidding. Seems to be looking a lot better. Feeling that way too?

Not at at the moment. The last couple of weeks i have had some some real difficulty with pain for some reason and im off to see the specialist to what could be causing it.

I had peck major tear in July '08 benching 170kg.

My biceps was just as bruised and began to hurt.

I was unlucky in the fact that the muscle tore out of the tendon. Which means it could not be re-attached.This was only discovered after the surgeon cut me open. I still had to spend 6 weeks with my arm in a sling. After which i had 6 months of physio to try and get proper movement back. I couldn't even bench the bar when i finally started training again. So in short I've lost a lot of size on my chest. And on a good day can only bench 100kg. Worse part is the obvious deformity on the one side.

Good luck with your recovery.
