General gym question - working out with a mate

I am pretty sure that having a regular gym partner would make it a lot easier to be motivated right?

Having a buddy would also be good for helping you do bench presses and assisting you in doing those last 2 reps?

Do many of you guys out there work out with a mate?

My real question is, how do I find a person to work out with? I don't really know anyone who works out

Cheers

some people like having a partner others don't. I have had experiences training on my own and with a 'buddy'. IF you do want a partner you need to find one who has similar goals to yourself and is reliable there is nothing more detrimental to motivation than having your partner being a no show. As for finding a partner there is a thread in the gyms and equipment area also there is a thread on training partners somewhere.

if there is no one on here one should be simple enough talk to people in your gym lend a spot ask for a spot take an interest in there training and you should find one pretty easily

I'm with Beowulf - I normally train on my own, but have done some powerlifting programmes with a mate... if done right it helps keep the breaks short (you only rest while s/he's lifting), but if done wrong it can affect the intensity. Spotting - not so much, you can lift safely by choosing the right equipment, but nothing motivates more than have a mate out-lift you, or yell in your face to get that last rep out.

How to find one - talk to folks. Find a gym with like-minded people.
