How many sets of Deadlifts do you do?

 you people are scaring me.

I started on deadlifts about a month ago - took me a couple of sets to get the technique down (with my PT prodding me to get me to bend in the right places ) and then started putting weight on the bar.

I've gone up every week (doing deadlifts once a week) and I'm now warming up on 12x 60kg. Then up to 12x80kg. Last week I hit 90kg which is my highest ever! I was really keen to hit the 100kg mark this morning, but my body was not having a bar of it :naughty:

And to see you guys doing 200+?! I was impressed with myself for doing 90kg when I barely weigh over 70!

I'm 17, under 70 and can deadlift 140 hahahaha. I'm not showboating, I'm just saying, it comes with technique and time.

I try to train deadlifts the same as every other compound exercise so attempt to do 3-4 working sets. But my body just doesn't seem to respond the same to deads as everything else. I do a good top set then I just can't match it the following sets so have to either drop the weight or reps. I have heard ppl suggest doing one top set Dorian Yates style. Has this worked for anyone keeping in mind my main focus is building back size NOT strength, although both would be ideal 8)

Where lean mass is concerned, size and strength are linked, you can't have one without the other.

Yates style sets for compound exercises are very effective but mostly for the enhanced bodybuilder. When training naturally you should achieve better results from pyramid style sets for compound and isolation exercises.

And thus you prove my point :-p

I'm 28, 72ish kilo and maxed at 90k deadlift!

but, I am less than 2 months new to the exercise

Make sure your back is straight and the ass is dropped. Grip the bar as tight as you can before lifting. If you're rounding your back and having trouble keeping it straight, try look up at the corner where the roof and wall meet.
