So 8 odd weeks out and the big shake down as far as I know the show is still all go.

Thought I might throw it out there to all of you who were maybe going to compete to get it together and come on down. An event like this will be good for the region especially if we get 80+ quality athletes.

'THE MUSCLE TOUR MUST GO ON'

NABBA/WFF NZ would like to announce that the 2011 Christchurch Grand Prix to be held Saturday 30th April at The Aurora Centre Burnside High will go on.

We thank everyone for their continued support of not only this show - but also for all their support for our friends and family in Christchurch who have been affected by the earthquake.

Just put up the poster for CHC Grand Prix on 30th April, 2011 at the fantastic Aurora Centre in Burnside.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my best wishes to Richard Parnham, Dave Smith & Missy Hawkins who have organised this years event under extremely difficult circumstances due to the recent earthquakes in CHC. The show is being very competently put together & will host some competitors from Australia & around NZ. It is a top NABBA /WFF show on the calendar as it is a qualifier for both NABBA World Championships on 11 June, 2011 in Sao Paulo, Brazil & the WFF Universe on 18th June in Baden, Austria. A good number of top NZ BBers are expected to be competing in Brazil & will qualify though this event so should make for an interesting lineup on the day.

I would also like to advise that I am not actively involved in the Executive of NABBA/WFF NZ this year due to personal & business reasons. However, I urge all of the members on NZBB that have been part of the rise of this federation in NZ to give their utmost support to this event. It says a lot to be running a sporting event in CHC these days & with all your loyal following we can feel some degree of normality coming back into our city.

Look forward to meeting up with you again in 5 weeks.

Cheers,

mnz

I am curious as to why the only advertised prize is $500 for the glamour class?

(Its not my intention to start a debate whether you like or don't like glamour/bikini...if you really feel the need, start a new topic, although its been thrashed out in the past enough imo)

Personally I like the bikini/glamour girls and have no problems with the prize but just curious as to why its the only one advertised? Is it because its hard to get competitors?

And since I started this train of thought, is there similiar prizes for the top physique and figure competitors?

Well Stef you could always pop on a bikini & give it a go. I dont think there is anything in the rules to state you need to be female  But seriously, it has been the norm to promote this class within Aust & NZ with cash prizes. It attracts a lot of attention & the girls need to register & become members. It is hoped that they may subsequently follow thru to Figure & Fitness classes in the future. It also puts a lot of bums on seats in the supporting audience. These are expensive events to run M8. I guess you will just have to be happy with a plastic trophy. There is prize money for NABBA & WFF going into a travel fund I believe.

Hey all

I'm under the impression that the weigh in venue may change due to the current state of the CBD, if so it will be Cityfitness Northwood. When I get a conformation I will post it up.

Can confirm that registration will now be at City Fitness Gym at Northwood Supa Centre on Friday night 29th April at 6pm.
