Help needed with diet

Hi

I am begining a diet and exercise plan and I have hit a problem with my diet.

If I drink milk, I get an upset stomach and want to vomit. So i have to drink soy.

If I eat protein bars, i get an upset stomach, want to vomit and my mouth and throat gets all itchy.

If I eat lamb, my mouth and throat gets a slight itch if not cooked well done.

If I eat fish, my mouth and throat gets all itchy and my tongue begins to swell. I can eat other seafoods, Just not fish.

My questions are...

Do I have allergies with protein or is it something else?

Has anyone heard of this before?

What can I replace these foods with to add the needed proteins for successful exercise and muscle development?

Thanks

Hey Jon, welcome to the site.

It certainly sounds like you have some pretty significant allergy problems. You should probably see an expert, but here are my totally uneducated thoughts, for what they're worth...

Milk - is this a full dairy allergy, or just a lactose intolerance? If the latter, you could try taking some digestive enzymes (specifically lactase) and see if that helps. Do you have a problem with cheese or yoghurt too? What about whey protein isolate?

Protein bars - if you're allergic to dairy, I imagine protein bars would cause you issues since they contain whey protein. They probably also contain a whole lot of other muck that could trigger allergies too (various sweeteners, nuts, etc). I'd steer clear of them until you know more about your problem.

Lamb - I've never heard of this before, but as I say, I'm no expert. Do you have a similar problem with beef or pork?

Fish - nothing wrong with the protein in prawns. :)

You can buy rice protein and pea protein. Not sure how good they are, but they've got to be better than nothing.

never seen problem with lamb and fish before.you will definetly need to talk to doctor for them.milk allergies are more common.still not the end of the world

1)add eggs and chicken to your diet.as much as you need

2)whey protein should be alright cause its low in lactose stuff(atlest the ones i have seen) just mixe it in plain old water.if you still have problem then try starting with small seves of protein.using a spoon in place of scoop might help and when you sure its not causing you any problem then go to the normal serves

Thanks for your thoughts guys.

I don't have a problem with cheese, yoghurt or any other dairy products. And I'm fine with any sort of nuts too.

I love all meats, especially lamb. and I don't have any allergies to any of them. The only meat I don't eat is fish.

The protein bar I tried was 'Protein33cookies and cream flavour.

Thanks for the advice devil.

I think I may have to seek professional advice on my allergies then.

hey mate. honestly, the stuff you posted could be a good thing.

1. milk is unnecsary you dont need it.

2. protein bars are shit.

3. lamb is shit stay away.

apart from the fish because fish is very good, but you can easily eat things like chicken, lean steak etc

Care to elaborate? A nice roast leg of lamb would have to be one of my favourite meals, delicious :D What make's it different from other red meats?

when lamb is cooked all of the fat stays inside of the meat.

Oh, that all. That's what makes it taste so damn good  Nothing wrong with animal fats mate, as long as they're accounted for in the diet.
