Bench Press Shirt

lemon

Recommended Posts

So I tried my first bench press shirt today. Sore. Red bruisings around my shoulder/tricep :P

I tried a size 44 and 46.

My build is:

Chest - 97 (edit re-measured got 107cm)

Shoulders - 119 (edit re-measured got 124cm)

I was a lot weaker. I can do about 130kgs raw, but couldn't even get 110 up. Mainly struggling to get it to touch my chest.

Am I using the wrong size?

Where can I purchase one? (as I borrowed these ones)

Does everyone suffer the skin being pinched? Cuz it was very off putting. Might just need to hire a concrete mixer and harden up

You should be in a 38-40

I am a full 100 and I use a 44 for comps and 46 for training

Titan Shirt I presume or was the shirt an Inzer?

I tried a Titan for size 44 and a Inzer for 46. The 46 felt less painful and probably better fitting. Although I don't know how it should fit exactly.

Im 53cm approx shoulder to shoulder.

Questions.

Are you training for a powerlifting comp?

What type of shirt is it? (f6 or fury)

Do you have anyone experienced with you to put it on show you how to use it?

Shirts should be as tight as possible. Dont go searching for a touch, Go far down as the shirt will allow then press the touch will come with heavier weights. Make sure your technique is down pat, having someone experienced watching over you to reinforce good technique and to spot if f*ck ups happen (almost got guillitined by 180kgs, lucky I had NZSM spotting!)

Yes - Single lift Benchpress U24, U83kgs

Titan and Inzer.

I'm lifting with Brian Froggat, Although I cannot lift with him all the time as he's a bit of a drive away.

I like to get advice from everyone as it helps me get a better understanding.

The shirt I was wearing was riding a bit in the front. Sometimes when I lowered the weight I would get choked by the shirt.

Brian holds the NZ Bench Press record 171kgs at 75kg Body Weight he pretty well knows his stuff, you should organize a time and go through a session with him. He will put you on to where to get a shirt from if it is Titan then Tonka is the Distributor if Inzer let me know.

Both distributors are members on here:

Which brand would be recommended for a beginner, who is probably going to have trouble touching?

Titan is good to start with, you will have get sized properly and if your finances are good get a shirt 1 size bigger to start with then a tighter one as you get more comforable with the shirt groove itself.

There maybe some second hand shirts floating around you should ask Brian F.

If you want to break those records then you better join up so you would be eligble, you have to be on the Drug Testing Programme for 6 months before you can break records. Nationals in October first Bench qualifier is in March CD Bench Press Champs in June for you to qualify to go to The Nationals.

PM for details
