Um... sounds kinda like the way I play golf...bash, hope and pray :grin: - and no, it doesn't work for me :pfft:

When you say

just go hard on cardio and eat a lot more food just no crap food
have you any real plan for what "more food" means... 'cos it could be seriously counterproductive.

Done wrong, you could end up fitter, but fatter simultaneously. As Agent86 said in my journal, there are plenty of fat runners out there.

Plus - it takes 3500 cals expended to shift 500g of bodyfat....do you KNOW how much effort that would take? Can you really run non-stop for an hour five times a week? Or would you rather run for a half-hour a time, and make up the rest with a modest calorie deficit and a nutrition plan that emphasises protein, essential fats, and moderate sensible carbs ?
