SNORING

Recommended Posts

Back on track...

I have had the discussion with a doctor and it's not just the fact that it can be a pain for your partner, it also impacts on the quality of the sleep. Waking up tired is not a good sign and suggests por quality sleep. Sleep apnea can be a serious issue for some.

It is generally a result of weight I think.

I snore whether I'm super lean or carrying a few extra kilos. I think it's cos I have a short neck and apparently my nostrils are super small. My Dad snored like a chainsaw, so perhaps I've inherited it from him.

I went to the ear nose and throat specialist once, and he was trying to shove a camera down my nose to have a look at something in my throat. He was pushing this camera and going, man your nose is tight (or something like that).

Sounds dodgy :shifty: :pfft:

i also wanna get things back on track.

yeah i snore somthign chronic when i sleep on my back... apprently its only when i have had a lack of sleep or been out on the raz! sleeping on my side definitely helps... tho i cant say iv woken myself up or experienced an unpleasant sleep.... i think its more detrimental to your partners sleep

I think they are slightly different things though. Sleep apnea is definately the weight thing. Its when all the weight is over your chest kinda when you sleep and you have funny breathing patterns. Snoring is like the soft palate?? I think.... :shifty:

I will defer to you Peachy. My point was that "snoring" should be taken seriously if it is fact more than just snoring. :)

A post by Doc sparked me to find out if those of us that have put significant weight on now snore?

Most nights i get jabbed onto my side lol

Would this be a weight issue in terms of simply being heavy or even adding weight to your current frame?

I don't know if it is how much you weigh maybe more how you carry the weight. I always know when I have put on weight quickly (fat, water and maybe muscle lol) as I wake myself up snoring. I don't snore now @ 110kg but I have at 114kg (fat). I have always heard that the very first place you put weight on is your tounge but I don't know if there is any truth to it - maybe this could explain it...

p.s the Doc starts snoring before his eyes have a chance to shut.

CPAP anyone?

If you don't have one, you're not a real SHW! :pfft:

Say what?

CPAP's help you breathe at night, like a little ventilator. People with sleep apnea use them to get a decent sleep without stopping breathing & 'waking' hundreds of times a night.

Lots of Superheavies use these.

Ive been using a CPAP since Jan 2007. When I did my sleep clinic the specialists couldnt believe that I had competed for so long with the lack of quality sleep my body was getting. The CPAP has been a life changing experience (for the better).
