2011 Aspirations

So what are people on here COMMITTED to achieving this year?

I'm not talking about shitty New Years Resolutions that fizzle out at the end of January but things we are really wanting to achieve? Doesn't have to be gym wise, can be career or family etc too, although this is a bodybuilding/powerlifting forum so lifts etc are really what we wanna hear

So lets hear them people

I'd say the main objective is to improve my planning skills, and being able to stick to the plan. That will help me achieve good grades, get stronger, bigger, and fitter, and improve all aspects of life hopefully. I'd also like to read more classic or highly acclaimed novels, never been a big novel reader and that's something I will change. Starting light with Animal Farm by George Orwell.

If I were to be more specific, minimums I want to achieve would be;

-B grade average

-100kg bodyweight without getting fat, 120kg bench, 150kg squat, 200kg deadlift, 20 bodyweight chin ups.

-Run to, and up Baldwin st without stopping again. Should never have let this slip.

-Read '1984' 'Catch 22' 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' 'A Clockwork Orange' 'Red Dragon' 'Silence of the Lambs' and 'Hannibal'

From a powerlifting persepctive (hopefully all in competition somewhere during the year):

  • 3x bodyweight dead - will be about 280 if I keep under 93
  • 2.5x bodyweight squat - about 235 if under 93
  • I don't think a 2x bodyweight bench is realistic at this bodyweight (would be about 185!), but I'd be happy to knock off something in the range of 160-170

And for Rugby I'm hoping to get picked up on a 8-10month contract in Europe somewhere, hopefully Italy or Spain

Mainly though the big aspiration is to keep injury free 8)

At 100kgs you can aim a bit higher than those weights. Aim for the stars :pfft:

You're probably right, but they're minimums and it's only 1 year.

Well...

The Ministry of Health's 2010 social report shows that 25% of the population aged 15 and over is obese, defined as a body mass index of 30 or more.

There'd be quite a few on this site contributing to that 25% who'll never be mistaken for obese by looking at them. One of my aspirations is now to join that 25%, so 102kg here I come :pfft:

Hmmm - tough question.

If we're talking strength goals, at the beginning of 2010 I reckoned I wanted to get to 450kg for squat/bench/ deadlift by year's end. In September after one run-through Sheiko #29, I got to 465 kg, and after a second run-through in October I made it to 190 squat, 190 deadlift and 110kg bench for a 490kg total.

So, I'd commit to 220/ 220/ 120 for a 560kg total.

Apart from strength gains, I'm still working on goals for the year - but something competitive in the Sept-Nov timeframe seems to fit my calendar, I'm just not sure what, yet. I'll have to get it sorted soon, though - lotsa work to do.

as far as lifting goes... to be more consistent and prepared with the nutrition side of things.

and just to manage my money abit better as far as buying supplements etc goes, its so easy to get caught up in buying all this different shit for your training etc and most of it doesnt make a diff to yr results. basically just be a little less excessive when it comes to this kinda thing.

i got lots of other goals for the year but they dont relate to training.
