Weight gainers are waste of money in my book just eat lots of food as for a good cheap powder I would suggest using Inner Amour Supper quad from Supplement me which is $79.00 for 57 servings which comes to $1.38 per serve which is cheap and I will post up the url for supplement me which is http://www.supplementme.co.nz

I desperately want to gain weight / muscle quickly so wouldn't it be better to buy a weight gainer AND add peanut butter, essential fats etc?

Just wasting money, PD's right. Whey powder/milk/oats/peanut butter/fruits and berries. Will be a fraction of the cost of a commercial weight gainer, probably pack more calories as well depending on how much you make, and still taste fantastic.

The expensive brands dont have anything special in them to help you gain weight. Protein is protein. Get a cheap plain flavour and mix till your own taste. Dont get sucked into commercial sparkly packaging.

I agree but I think the question was about weight gainer rather than protein powder. The same principles probably still apply. The weight gainers tend to have a higher carb per serve whereas the protein powder we love is just protein.

I would tend to just stick to a low cost and high quality protein powder and get your carbs from food. Ideally get as much protein as you can from whole foods also. But we are only human and 3+ shakes are a good supplement.

thanks alot, after reading all the posts i think i will pick up some nutra-whey or fonterra whey powder and, as you all said, add fruit, oats, peanut butter etc.

Thanks alot all!

hey New Zealand, just a word of warning from experience,it aint the best tasting whey. :puke:

i think superquad is the best value and it tastes good.

you pay bout $40 for 1.5 kg of fonteria whey

and pay bout$80 for 2kg of superquad. =P~

then again like others say its just a supplement, better of buying cans of tuna or chicken.

my 2 cents

Ive never needed to use a mass gainer but when Ive wanted to gain weight I just add some flax oil to a shake or icecream. I agree with getting it from food just eat more. The more kjs the more weight gain, no need to pay for expensive weight gainers.
