Hi all,

I am the rube,(aka jimmy) took the name from the original rube my father when he passed on the name passed to me. In my early 40's used to be 125kg now down to the high 60's but only prob now is with all my weight gone so has a lot of my strength so need to build that up again. then there's a bit of loose skin you don't lose that much weight and not have some i suppose.

at the moment i'm doing a lot of walking and cycling which is good cardio and builds up me legs but its the rest of me that needs working on.

So being a novice at this if anyone reading this comes from the Timaru, Temuka area and wants to teach an old dog some new tips get back in touch with me.

To everyone else have an awesome christmas and all the best for 2011 :D

Hi Jimmy. That's a serious amount of weight to lose, so obviously you've got the focus and drive. Congrats!

Are you doing any weight training at the moment?

No i'm just gonna start doing some but money is a bit tight with my mrs being out of work and gym memberships are a bit on the dear side, so i was looking at getting some tips on doing some workouts at home.

any suggestions would be helpful.

First of all, well done on such a great achievement - that's awesome

Hmmm - have you got any equipment (even a set of dbs off Trade-me) , or do you need to work with stuff around the house?

There's been some good threads on bodyweight exercises, and believe me there are some that'll kick anyone's ass, if done right!

Plus, some of the strongman/ Powerlifter type work could help you once you've got a hang on the form and such. There'll be big rocks down the river for free, or (if you've a decent drive way and the missus doesn't mind a big tire lying around), a discarded truck tire from Beaurepaires for flips. Have a look at Drizzt's journal for ideas.
