anyone use DHT blocker shampoos??

ive heard that 'Nizoral' is quite good, though i havnt used it personally.

I have!! My hair was thinning turns out coz i was severely low in iron. There was a 3 step shampoo, conditioner, rinse and then a spray. From clive clinics. They guarantee once you start using it your hair loss wont get any worse and they are right i reckon.

Dont use it now coz my hair is back to normal but it really worked.

I thought Nizoral was just a dandruff shampoo?? :-s

While we are on topic of hair loss.

I do take finasteride 1mg a day and it seems help / slow down further hair loss.

I was wondering would all these shampoos you buy off the shelf (prob has lots of chemicals) will make it worse?

Are there any shampoos you guys use which actually help in anyway or less harmful?

Cheers.

It has ketoconazole that is meant to lower dht sebum levels in your hair based on the very limited research.

the majority of your dihydrotestosterone receptors are located in your skin and prostate which is the reason why androgenic compounds have the ability to make your hair thin and/or fall out, same goes for terrible acne.

cleaning the scalp, regardless of what you use, often, is the best way to keep your hair follicles healthy. dandruff shampoos and dht(blocking) specific shampoos are just an extra precaution.

best way to prevent hair loss and prostate enlargement is obviously by blocking the 5a reductase enzyme from converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. finasteride is a very good effective option but it can have negative effect side effects.

Just to throw in a wild card, there is some indication that Follistatin may help hair regrowth but there are many claims which are widly unresearched in current human studies into Myostatin Inhibitors. There are several, some more advanced, formulaes of the protein around. So its all very subjective & inconclusive atm.

Title;Hair growth control by follistatin

Abstract;Members of the TGF-.BETA./BMP family such as BMP-4 and TGF.BETA.-1,2 are involved in the control of hair follicle morphogenesis. This prompted us to explore the role of TGF-.BETA./BMP family member activin and its antagonist follistatin in pelage hair follicle development. Here, we show that during hair follicle development, follistatin mRNA is prominently expressed by hair matrix and outer root sheath keratinocytes as well as by interfollicular epidermis, whereas activin .BETA.A-mRNA is mainly expressed in dermal papilla cells. Compared to age-matched wild-type controls, both follistatin knockout mice and activin .BETA.A transgenic mice show a significant retardation of hair follicle morphogenesis. Treatment of wild-type, embryonic skin explants with follistatin protein stimulates hair follicle development. This effect is inhibited by the addition of recombinant activinA protein. These observations suggest that follistatin and activin interaction plays an important role both in hair follicle development and may be exploited as a regenerative treatment for patients with alopecia.

You'll have them all down at the beach eating seaweed musclenz  Some interesting studies around in regard to building muscle and strength as well but alas nothing conclusive. Back to good old test. :)

Probably the mildest supermarket shampoo would be baby shampoo. Getting back to the no.1 haircuts, it looks so much better to have a no.2 so that you get a little bit of fuzz, I never let my man get a no.1, just nasty. I saw this dude at our local supermarket yesterday, stick thin really tall and with a limp, he was literally covered in tats and the worst thing ive ever seen, he had a shaven head and on the back of his head was a face tatood, really freaked me out.

It might be freaky, but he wouldn't have to worry about tiger attacks, Cantygirl.

Since tigers generally attack from behind, wearing masks, painted with facial features, on the back of the head confuses the stalking tiger. ... The masks have almost eliminated tiger attacks in the past five years

/Random fact for the day. :D
