I just feel so sad for the families, seeing their grief is heartbreaking. I'm really sick of the media trying to stir things up looking for blame and going on about the time it took to get a rescue started. I reckon the police and mine management did a stand up job in very difficult circumstances. Just let these people try to come to terms with what has happened and grieve for their lost.

But on a brighter note it is times like this when kiwis and communities really pull together and our willingness to help others shines through!! Makes me proud of our little country :nod:

To all of you who have posted here,

As a member of the greymouth community and as a person who as lost a friend in this horrific tragedy, I can honestly say thank you all so much for you heart felt condolences and thoughts. Its a terrible time for greymouth to have lost so many so quickly and brutally, it is hard to see all the grieving and hurt that people are suffering and will continue to suffer in the days, months and years ahead, It compounds the pain I feel for my friend Sam Mackie, his partner and their unborn child.. but that is nothing compared to how the families feel.

Anyway, thank you all and as my partner (ex coal miner) said any day above ground is a good day.
