Headphones for my ipod

groovy

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I am thinking of getting some In ear headphones (dont like the big headphones) just when i workout.

I was thinking of something like the below but i dont know much about the headphones and also googled best headphones for ipod and quite a few websites say different things.

My max would be like 100$.

one of the websites said this was pretty good.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Klipsch-Image-S4-in-ear-Headphones-BRAND-NEW-/110609087993?pt=AU_headphone&hash=item19c0d0bdf9#ht_1859wt_906

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SENNHEISER-OMX680-Sport-OMX-680-Headphone-iPod-iPhone-/280576961436?pt=AU_headphone&hash=item4153b0ab9c#ht_2693wt_1140

Any suggestions of what sort of headphones you recommend (good quality sound, cheapish and reliable :) )

Thanks

I hate pushing headphones into my ears it feels so wrong. Skull Candy, Bose etc are considered the scum of the headphone world for those in the know.

Go with the Klipsch headphones dude they have gotten awesome reviews http://reviews.cnet.com/best-headphones/

What he said

I use Jaybird blue tooth headphones, hated them to start with but wont go with out them now. Downside is sound quality isn't 100% with blue tooth and still won't be for some time. If you can deal with wires (I can't) Jaybird also do some excellent standard headphones.

Failing all that just get some $30 Sony headphones and when they are coozed spend another $30, it will be cheaper in the long run.

Timely thread :)

I just bought myself a pair of Sennheiser (Adidas-styled) OMX 680's from Dick Smith on special for $90 (down from $129 I think). Pretty happy with them, was going to write a review but haven't got around to it.

I hate tinny sounding crap headphones, but also staying on my head when working out was a big consideration for me. While obviously having a pair of headphones at this price range (higher part of the low-pricers), with such a small form factor means you aren't going to get the best sound quality as opposed to the more expensive studio-type in-ears, they are certainly better sounding than your run of the mill $30 jobbies. Just potentially lacking a little in the bass department for my tastes.. but that's better kept for the review.

These also have a mouldable type of rubber wrap that goes around your earlobe, so it fits really well, and are light enough to forget they are there. The cable is quite short by itself (handy if you have an armband), but has a second attachment that not only lengthens the cable, but adds a volume adjustment, and belt/shorts clip.

There is a model that has identical specs (the Sennheiser PMX 680's), but is a neck-wrap type of headphone as opposed to the earlobe-wrap that I got. The PMX/Neck-wrap wasn't on special, as I probably would've preferred them over ear-wraps, but not for an extra $30-40 for identical sounding cans  (not sure why both weren't on special! :( )

Anyway I'll type up a review here when I get a chance, but I recommend them, especially if you can snap them up for under $100 :)

Bloody hell, some of you blokes have way too much money

I grabbed a pair of $4 jobbies from the ware-whare about a year ago, and they're still going strong. I don't really give a rats arse about all the bass, treble, blah blah blah, just as long as it can pump out rock/metal loud enough to drown out the techno-pop, hippity-hop crap that plays in the vicinity of the cardio floor. Don't need them upstairs under the iron, cos there's decent music.

 Maybe, but I've been into good quality of sound for a while, to the point where the cheapy warewhare ones do nothing but cause my ears pain

Smashing iron is pain enough for me, might as well have some silky smooth sound entering my ears while it happens ;) (well, close enough to it anyway)

Plus, it drowns out the Souljah Boy and Seal that my gym seems to have on repeat :-s

edit. - Here are links to the headphones on Dick Smith's website if anyone is interested:

OMX 680 (ear-wraps) = $88

PMX 680 (neck-wraps) = $118

Without a doubt the best headphones i have ever owned and still do is the low end Shure. Was back 3 years ago about $149 or something but retails now for about $89 or $99 at harvey norman.

With it i got a packet that has various sizes that can fit in your, couple are silicone and some are some sort of squishy foam. Sound is phenomanal. I will never look back. Also Shure is considered the best in the audio and music industry and have been around for decades.

Shure are a great sounding brand, definitely (I've only listened to one pair briefly before, forget the model but they were in-ears), but would they hang in well for exercise?

Oh hell dude. They fit in your ear a certain way so that the wires kinda go around the top of your ears. Me, i wear mine in gym and when i go for a run and it blocks out everything without having to put the volume to full blast. When i go for a run on the road i have to check for cars cause i dont hear them. Even the shitty music in gym does not exist when i have them on. I have the lower en of the Shure headphones but i know you can pay as much as $1200 for the top end.
