Timing of a post workout drink

I am just having Whey Protein concentrate with water as my post work out drink. Usually as I walk out the gym on the way to the bus stop.

But some nights I ride my bike home from the gym. It's a 25 to 30 min ride with some pretty big hills. When I ride, does it make any difference if I have the post work out drink

1. between gym and riding home, or

2. when I get home after the ride

which would you do and why?

I read something about this recently that it depends what you want to do; I think if your trying to burn fat cardio immediately after a workout is great because you have depleted your glycogen levels? if your trying to bulk feed those muscles asap. The other time your body is normally in the same state is in the morning before breakfast apparently.

Don't take this as fact, someone experienced will probably have a much better answer! or can say if above is correct?

I would say get it into straight after your workout then eat something when you get home as well Cameron.

Thats if you want to get bigger :grin:

would agree with this for my own personal goals (getting bigger).

but its a bit hard to say what you should do here man because you haven't told us what you want to achieve.

but that is good solid advice for bulking. If you are cutting i would say have it straight after your workout if you are catching the bus home or have it straight after your bike ride home after you have got there.

Reason being if you have it after your workout and then jump on your bike to go home your body is going to be trying to send blood to your stomach to digest the shake and it is going to need it all for your legs to bike home.

So best waiting for your biking to stop so it can see the blood where it needs to be.
