Newbie - figure training, splitting areas/rest days

Hey guys,

Have a great PT and a great weights workout which is split lower half one day, upper body the other day and core in between.

I am carrying excess weight at 5'6 and 80kg so i am trying to burn fat as well as build lean awesome muscle.

At the moment i have bought a heart rate moniter to make sure i am training in the fat burning range when i do cardio.

I have put cardio into nearly every day except my rest day and this is on top of doing my split above at the gym at lunch time.

Have been reading about resting muscles as being really important on here so if i am doing cardio every day am i not resting my muscles enough?? and how do you fit in the splits and enough cardio plus rest days??

As with what drizzt said - what type of cardio are you doing? IMO if you're just doing SS cardio at a moderate heart rate it wouldn't effect recovery too much (more like active recovery?) - but on the other hand if you're doing say, a leg session one day and then HIIT type cardio the next, this will be impacting your recovery.

You def need to keep the cardio in most days to get that fat off, slow progress is good progress. The combination with weight training is going to have a double whammy affect on getting you into shape. Make sure that you keep up the intensity with your weights and perhaps talk to your trainer about supplementing your diet if you experience muscle soreness on a regular basis.
