Calories on a rest day

Just curious - most of the (very little) I've read on eating plans seems to dictate a constant amount of calories everyday, throughout the week. But if you're eating to put on muscle, without turning into a sumo wrestler, at what point should you reduce your daily calorie intake on rest days?

eg. I have a 4 day split which more often than not is Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs then rest on Fri, Sat, and Sun.

Is three days of rest cause enough to lower the calories on, say, the Sunday? or is 3 days off not worth worrying about making a reduction?

What about 3 days in the gym with 4 days rest?

On your rest days, first and foremost, this is when you grow, not when you are in the gym.

With that in mind, you must feed the muscle with calories. The meal before your workout doesn't replenish your glycogen stores, its the meals the day before your work out so you have to eat!!!

Now if you find that BF is an issue, add some cardio to keep it in check and keep your diet is as clean as possible

Thanks.

Would you say the same thing for a 3 day split with a continuous 4 days of rest? eg would you still eat big for the full 4 days?

I realise this will be different for everyone, I'm not looking for a scientific answer, I'm just curious what you'd do.

Umm I would say it depended on the split. If I did a 3 day split it would be Mon/Wed/Fri so I would say keep the calories up there but if you hit it Mon/Tue/Wed then perhaps I'd ease back a little on carbs on the Saturday, only once the BF gets a little high. But as you said, it is individual so make it your own
