do you train your hip flexors?

i stopped training my hip flexors to help get my alignment square and now i dont have an anterior tilt but now im running into other problems.

should i be training them for strength and performance; and a healthy muscular balance? is there any way to keep them strong without over powering your hamstrings?

i was stretching them every day to keep them loose at the same time i was frequently stretching my hamstrings. could this be why my efforts were useless? should i just limit my posterior stretches post workout?

i found when i stopped training my hip flexors one of my foot would rotate out and this is the same hip that im having trouble with. i ended up injuring that hip flexor/tensor facia muscle squatting, buckling side on.

could this entire hip problem be as a result of me ceasing my hip flexor training?

more info:

when i jerked my hipflexor/tensor fascia muscle my foot would constantly open out (glute rotating out) every set for the last 5 6 weeks and i only stopped training my hip flexors maybe 7 8 weeks ago tops. this would be puting alotsof stretch and strain on the adductor/hipflexor??

i dont wanna jump to conclusion but working with my chripractor is sometimes a hit and miss. sure he can pop me into place but my leg(joint) always pops(literally) back into position. i think its a combination of imbalanced strength and lifting with incorrect form due to that imblanace which is a vicious cycle.

to give more detail my right lumbar extensors dont extend and contract properly and i can see this cuz i have weak oblique and lat engagment. when i squat or deadlift its uneven like im opening out to the right. it is partially due to my right leg constantly shortening. so i feel rather than running to my chripractor and getting a quick fix i need to address my musculature first and get everything balanced.

can anyone suggest what could be causing this? my chiropractor had told me that my right hip keeps rotating backwards shortening my right leg.

Do you do any ankle mobility work? alot of my hip issues were related to tight calf and a stiff ankle (on one side more than the other, due to an old gastroc tear), if your ankles are uneven it causes a "twist" all the way up to your hips and back screwing with glute and hip flexor activation. I used to tweak my hip flexor on one side doing deep squats but after a few weeks of tennis balling my calves I can A2G with no hip issues.

my right calf has always given me grief and been tight. got tendonitis in the past and since then that calf has always been tight. i am working on that though. :P

i read somewhere that your calves can also become really tight due to hip alignment. it is tight and shortened. I tend to be dominant of that calf and its also quite alot bigger.

went and saw my chriopractor today and he basically confirmed the what im suspecting that it could be a combination of things though it all "begins in the hips" and my right hip is rotated back and thats why im not getting enough glute ham activation and very likely why i injured my hipflexor/tensor fascia.

so now i need to be doing some hip flexor work but avoid the forward tilt...do you guys think if i stretch the hip flexors often and reduce the hamstring stretching this will keep things in check?
