Morning training?

Hello.

A change to a job with a later start means im now looking to change from training in the evening to now going in the morning. I do weights followed by cardio. Question is, do I need to eat before training? Should I have something before training? I often use L Carnatine first thing in the morning but this cant be taken with food. Any advice appreciated.
