Yohimbe

Hey all

I'm guessing most of you have heard of the supplement yohimbe and that it can be pretty handy when pumping weights. I tried it out in the states and it felt good.

I understand that yohimbine (the active ingredient in yohimbe) is banned here in NZ. Does anyone know if you can still get normal yohimbe products in? From BB.com etc. I've seen products here that have yohimbe in it but at low doses of course as they are mixed with about 8 other herbs.

If anyone can give me the heads up that would be much appreciated.

As far as im aware there should be no yohimbe products in NZ, or at least thats what Medsafe told me. But who knows they change their tune almost every week. For them and the govt there is always something to try and ban.

Anyway to answer your question, no bb.com does not let you go through the checout when buying yohimbe containing products. As far as they are concerned its banned here and they make it so you cant purchase it. So too with Zinc items and few others. My suggestion is to buy from a store in NZ or if you can. I know a few US sites that does ship those supposed banned products to NZ but i would risk it with customs.

Yohimbine is not banned and can be bought but it is useless in it's natural form (just my opinion) Yohimbine HCL is the problem child as far as Medsafe are concerned. I bought Yohimbine herb on an NZ site for a while but it didn't do anything. A google search should bring up some results.

Sorry haven't helped much but if you have a friend coming in from the USA anytime soon get them to bring the product you want in.

So do you think if I find a website that will send it to NZ that it may make it through customs.

Short answer NO, not worth wasting your money. The website I got it off back in the day was a NZ website but I can't for the life of me remember it. Use the search function on this site I think I posted it up a couple years back.

Hi ben

Im with Hennie, what do want to use Yohimbe for. From the search results i found it looks to be very useless as a stand alone bb supplement. Doctors prescribe it only as a medicine if you have problems in the man area or suffer from type 2 diabetes and ADD, just to name a few.

It sure is a stimulant but not realy for the type that you are looking for i would say. But hey im not a doctor or pharmacist.

I found that it gave me more energy in the gym. But I also here that it helps burn more fat as well. Apparently it used to be used to help men get it up before viagra came about, guess thats another bonus if it helps you go a few xtra rounds ha.

You can't buy Yohimbine herb as there's no such thing. If you have bought this then you really have been duped and you should ask for your money back. More likely to buy yohimbe bark from the Yohimbe Tree which contains alkaloids including Yohimbine. Technically this is still illegal for over the counter sale in NZ as the alkaloid Yohimbine is a prescription only medicine. Yohimbine HCL is yohimbine hydrochloride and a synthetic form of Yohimbine. Any study conducted on the effectiveness of Yohimbine would most likely be done on Yohimbine HCl, as the synthetic version is typically more effective and the study would have been commissioned by the drug company manufacturing the HCl version. I doubt whether farmers growing yohimbe trees have enough money to commission a study and doubtful that a sports nut company would go to any lengths to study yohimbe bark when they can just google some studies on Yohimbine HCl off the net.

Personally I think Yohimbe/Yohimbine is over rated. The same thing happened with ephedra in the 90's. Every sports nut company jumped on the band wagon about how great ephedra/ephedrine was and every body still raves about it. Turns out it was all bullshit and ephedra wasn't the darling everybody made it out to be. Ephedrine HCl worked for fat loss but ephedra was balls and there very little evidence to show the natural version worked. All the sports nut companies referenced studies on Ephedrine HCl but most of them used mahuang/ephedra which is like comparing water to coca-cola and saying that coke's great for dehydration as it contains water. Really the only benefit they've now been able to show from ephedra is that it blunted the appetite hence why people lost weight. Funny thing is they tried to push Yohimbe in the 90's but because ephedra looked better on paper everybody got into that. If yohimbe was so great they would have combined the two and had the greatest fat burner in the world - but it isn't, so they didn't, and people are still fat.

Everyone in NZ is getting themselves worked up that they can't get something that doesn't really work. That's what the manufacturers want though so I guess the marketing is working.
