Hey Jono,

Great to hear you are out of hospital and at least know what is happening now. If absolute worst comes to worst, which I am sure will not be the case, and you are unable to carry on with bodybuilding there is one thing to keep in mind: that there will be some other activity in life that gives you exactly the same kind of feeling or satisfaction you get from bodybuilding. The feelings aren't exclusive to this one activity.

When I was younger I wanted to be the worlds greatest guitar player (!) and practiced accordingly, for hour after hour every day. However I started a bit late in life plus wasn't particularly gifted. It became apparent after 10 years (yep, I'm a bit slow on the uptake!) that I wasn't going to achieve my dream. While I still play quite a bit I have found other things in life that give me what I was really looking for. I think part of the reason we get distressed with setbacks is due to this assumption that we have but one chance, just this one thing that will give us what we want or need. I've found that its not really like that at all.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Wishing you all the best plus hope you'll still hang around these parts,

Andrew

hey andrew k, what age did you start at? kirk hammet was 15 when he picked up guitar, and hes a role model of majority of metal guitarists out there

Got packed off to piano lessons from age 8 to age 15, kept playing on my own until around 20, when I got really serious about the guitar. However this was really too late, especially if you love the soloing abilities of people like the late great Shawn Lane in his prime.

  • 2 weeks later...
probably from the gains...i tried to tell him to get that bodyfat down...oh well 8)

Not a good look for conventional bodybuilding training if this kind of thing is prone to happen. Perhaps "lean bulking" is the way to go.

Finally you guys are starting to understand how it works, Its just a bummer it had to come to this. Get well soon Jono.
