probably from the gains...i tried to tell him to get that bodyfat down...oh well 8)

pure speculation, We dont know any previous medical history. I know many people who have put on a lot of weight and not had heart problems.

Hopefuly we will see jono back on here soon and he can tell us what the problem is and weather or not it is related to his bodybuilding.

Interesting this. From a family experience, something called Atrial fibulation (heart palpitations) can be a very de-bilitating experience. Most likely a heriditary condition.

Good luck Jono, hope it's all good, and that you are pumping iron(as well as blood) in the not too distant future.

shit that sucks, hope its not from the 35kgs he put on this year
Gaining a ridiculous amount of weight isn't the way to go about it at all. I put 40 kg on in 5 months (from 82 to over 120 kg, with my bf going up to 33%) once when I was around 17/18 because 1) I was sick of being lanky and 2) I thought you had to have some size to be able to turn it into muscle. It wasn't the way to go about it at all, but I learnt eventually. It was a good learning experience I guess, and I was able to burn alot of the fat in fairly quick time, I burnt off 20 kg in about 6 months after that and gained muscle mass so the fat loss would've been even more.

i got out of hospital late last night.

yes i have Atrial fibulation (AF), and a hear mermer.

im on meds right now, and have a lot more treatment to go.

this is probably the end of weight training for me guys.

the end of an era for me huh.

at this time its unknown what the exact cause was/is. i had a heart mermer when i was a baby so it could be the same thing again.

all ill be doing from now on is some cardio, at this stage anyway.

thanks for all your support.

Hi Jono, glad to hear you're OK :)

With regards to training... thats a bummer, but your health is the most important thing here, so take it easy. Who knows, you may respond well to the treatment and be able to start looking at some light lifting in a while

Stay positive though... you'll pull through this no worries :D

Hey jono,

My mother as recently been diagnosed with AF, and they have put her on a course of drugs to control it. They won't operate on her cos' she's too old appanrently. I do know a couple of people who have been operated on and have contuinued to train, this includes Justin Collins, the Highlanders Flanker. He had an extreme case, his heart rate would get up to 270 bpm! He is back playing, so you've got hope!
