Not saying you've got small legs mate, haven't seen pics of you so I wouldn't jump the gun like that, but if you don't have enough mass the you can't get great separation. Conditioning is another thing but again haven't seen the pics.

If you are only gonna look at the exercise side, squeezing, lunges, leg extensions and (ain't nobody wanna hear this) front squats

dont cut peter dolans advice off bro he got some good quads and trains them just like you need to my mate.... also although you think they are big enough once you get some definition in them this will allow for more growth I know your right on your weight limit but that guy that beat you was taller and bigger so much work to be done but exciting at the same time yeeyaa.

Clint and I will work with you to bring out those cuts you require mate but your gonna be fucken sick I can promise you that lol.

Do you do tall or short athletic?

I'm guessing since you're novice you didn't come in with the conditioning you are capable of (I know I didn't), considering this, you probably have 2-3kg of room to grow into.

Sorting your conditioning out will help with the separation so much, the tighter you can get the skin the better
