Competing in IFBB internationally

I competed in NZFBB last year and won my novice class at the regionals and placed top 3 at the nationals so I am obligated to compete as an open competitor if I compete in NZFBB again.

I have moved to Aussie and am wondering if I compete in an IFBB affiliated event over here can I compete as a novice again or do I have to do the open class. Does anyone have any idea?

You can still compete as a Novice at NZFBB events, soundsgood. That rule of having to move to Open if you place top-3 at Nationals was removed 3 years ago ... it now only applies if you win a class at any event - regional or Nationals.

Not sure how they'd know if you did, but I think morally if you have qualified as an Open competitor you should accept the challenge and step up. Only way to improve is under fire.

I agree with MichaelK. If you have won a Novice and placed top 3 in Nationals you shouldn't be looking for ways to stay novice. Surely you should be competing in the Open.

If you are of Open standard then do it!

This means you can compete as a novice for one year after this win. After that your Open Class.
