Why do legs take so long 2 recover?

Recommended Posts

I agree trainhard.....bodybuilding style training say 5sets first 12 reps , 10, 8, 6 then lighter back up to 12 or fifteen all sets with weight til failure then leg extensions, lunges or hack squat all to failure you will have doms, if anyone comes trains legs with me on weds and trains like we do you will be sore on thurs no matter who you are even if your five times stronger youll train heavier same result.

This topic can lead to another BB vs PL debate but clearly wasnt started as such you could also add another factor......natural vs gear usage as my understanding is people on gear recover much faster??

The bold part of the quote was in my mind as soon as I started reading the topic. Interested to hear peoples thoughts on that.

people on gear can train harder in a physcial way, gear doesnt give u mental toughness to get through a hard leg session.

so what i am saying is the same person on gear will train harder than the same peron who isnt on gear. as for the recovery of the two im not sure. but i still prob think the steroid using trainer would recover quickly.

i dont know if i worded that the best but its dinner time, hope u understand what i was trying to say.

I also dont measure my Doms and growth etc If I dont train hard enough for which other muscle group or groups that I am training that day I just smash it harder the next time around but when I do have a hard quad or hamstring train I think man I wish my bike could transform into a zimmer frame :pfft:

Big muscles = many muscle fibres = ouch.

One thing that you may want to think about, is nutrition. The better it is the more your recovery is aided, also when I change my training program, I always bring in HMB supplements to just take the edge off the legs. I use to cycle HMB and BCAA's but now I take them spasmodically and I get a better result.

One thing that has help me with leg sorness after a hard leg session is using the round rollers that some gyms have then stretching then warming up on a bike prior to legs , then after legs using the roller again and then stretching again , they are still sore the next day but no where near as bad .

Good little read Pman.

I find I dont get alot of doms after squatting, however after doing a 2hr session of plyos and sprint training ive got some wicked doms.

Things I find help, some light reps of squats the next day or some light cycling, plus foam rolling and stretching seem to do the trick.

Yes those foam rollers are murder on quads, I find I support alot of my bodyweight while trying to foam roll them as it hurts like a biach.

Trained them on Saturday, its now Wednesday and they are still sore, but can defiantly get some ROM in them now!. I think its cos I change up rep ranges regularly, that they are a big muscle, n that you gota walk around on em all day.

Was interesting to read peoples posts on it!

Happy Squating :D
