Its pretty common knowledge to be competitive on the world stage you have to be enhanced.

please dont make assumptions like this as there are nz powerlifters who have successfully competed at this level and have done so being un-enhanced.

I agree with BarBrother. To be competitive (i.e. be pushing for a title) at Open Mens worlds and now a lot in the Juniors (the gap between Juniors and Opens is hardly anything these days) unfortunately you need to doing something dodgy. Not so much for Womens and Masters IMO. It's still cheating if you don't get caught ;)

Edit: I mean cheating in the most literal sense, as in it's against the rules. "It's not cheating because everyone else does it" is a whole different kettle of fish (IMO, again!)

Bold statement there BB but would have to agree with Ali. There are many clean lifters (from NZ and around the world) who have held there own when competing on the world stage. As much as we would like to keep the drugfree vs the drug users separate, the reality is it will never happen, a losing battle!

What makes it worse these days is you pretty much (actually you do...lol) need to have a science degree to decipher what you can and cannot take when it comes to supplements, prescriptions or health products. More and more athletes are being caught out because of this very reason - you buy it at a shop across the counter and hello...it contains a banned substance that shows up after a test. I know of a few athletes that have found this out the hard and it breaks me as much as it did them when they tested positive for taking something that was legal and readily available to the public.

Be very careful when it comes to pre-workout pick-me-up drinks, liquid creatines, testosterone boosters, fat burners, cough mixtures, hayfever medications, head cold medications etc etc especially if you are competing in a sport that is aligned with WADA. If you are unsure, find out as much as you can, or contact Drugfree NZ and ask (they have a quick response call service and texting service) or simply ...dont take it!!! NZ customs are pretty upto speed when it comes to stuff coming into the country these days but there are still the odd one or two supps/health products that slip through.

Those that compete in a sport that do participate under the WADA program must be prepared to abide by the rules, to think otherwise shows a lack of respect to those that are affiliated to/run the sport as well as highlights that individuals utter arrogance and stupidity....I think many sports have these individuals anyway...this too is a losing battle!

This whole thing is acutally a joke, ive known kalid for ages and hes NOT a powerlifter.... so why would he bother to be serious bout the whole thing. Hes a nice guy, i saw him compete, he rocked up raw, with raw strength, no knowledge of the correct technique, or no intentions of taking anything out, but because he was 19 at the time, with an amazing physique, (and come on guys i know yous allll agree if youve seen this big unit, AFGHAN genetics!!!), , people obviously want to make a big deal out of this. If he was serious about winning he would have been geared up with the whole powerlifting attire :pfft: . So its just plain and simple guys .....like wats posted up.. HE DID IT 4 FUN!! \:D/ too much talk :naughty: , like i know kalid would say, "if the bar aint bending, your just pretending, so train heavy or go home \:D/ " hes nottt a power lifter, hes a BODY BUILDER!!! (Apparently word is, he's doing junior worlds next year!!!!) \:D/ 100% support brother!!!!!!

wtf?

so being big, and not caring about how you do in a plifting comp, justifies being juiced in a drug free comp? what a load of shit.

you can bet any money if he had have actually placed, and not been tested - he'd be loving the spotlight. But since hes been caught cheating, "its no big deal" "does everyone need to know"

what a moe-tastic attitude.

Don't get me wrong guys I completely agree on the whole competing in a natural comp if you're enhanced thing. I'm not going to get into a moral debate over that because I absolutely agree with you.

I just don't understand the reason behind posting. Fair enough it's your right I'm not gona eat your lunch over it. But ya'll act like you ain't never seen a competitor in a strength based sport on juice. Like I said it's a well known fact that PED use in the sport is prevalent no matter what the testing stats say. If it's to point out the NZFBB not being aligned to WADA or whatever fair enough but if its just a "omg lol look what he did" thing then I think that belongs in a more appropriate medium..perhaps womens day? :pfft:

I have trained with the Slaimankhels and all are oustanding lifters Khalid in particular may be one of the most hardcore guys I've seen training.

and as for "if you don't care then why bother posting" what a stupid thing to say. its the fact that someone got a ban that I don't care about. I care enough to post because I am wondering what the point to the original post was? like i said was it to point out the lack of testing in NZFBB/Khalid is still able to compete in bodybuilding? Cause I think that's a good point for discussion...

seems youve got no answer to the guys cheating. In fact, you inherently condone it. Guys like you are the reason WADA exists. If competing against nattys when your juiced is your idea of being 'the man' , then you dont belong in any sanctioned plifting comp. stick to the g-strings brah.

Go WADA.

And how can you say hes cheating, he wasnt tested POSITIVE, get it in your head. Just GENETICS, hardwork, and diet is the key. I dnt understand where does he say he was tested POSITIVE, he refused to take the test, that is all!!!! just face the facts.... and stop hating.

Agree with Tonka and Ali, there are plenty of power lifters that are competing at world level drug free. Most of these lifters are very talented, with huge work ethics and on lookers cannot accept that - rather think he or she must be on something because he or she is stronger than me. People seem to be able to accept as clean someone like Lomu in Rugby being bigger and stronger than everyone else or Valery Adams but if its powerlifting - they must be on. Some countries, particularly the eastern block continue to be offenders in positive tests and as a result the whole team has been banned on recent occasions. However several countries including Scandanavia, UK, Australia, USA etc have a strong testing program and strong drug free culture. Thinking back to what the ipf was like 20 years ago Tonka I don't think it is a losing battle but it is a long one!

Unfortunately positive tests like K's, while he might be doing the sport for fun, tarnish the sport of powerlifting in NZ for something it isn't. In fact if you know the background to nearly all the recent positive tests in NZ powerlifting have been by lifters, who were not serious, national or international but rather lifted for the "fun of it" and somehow thought that they would not be tested.

Yea ive got an answer, hes NOT a POWER LIFTER, hes got muscles, and a mean body, have you seen it. check it out on Face book boy!!! 112kg on stage less than 7% body fat, not bad for a young lad 19years of age. just face the facts, he'll kill you on stage, and on that note in the gym, thats all there is to it. 100% kalid supporter.

oh, hes not a plifter? cos i thought he refused a test at a plifting comp? that he was lifting in? Whether plifting is his first choice or not, doesnt change anything - he still chose to 'compete' against others.

And yea, his physique is awesome, even with all the juice, he obviously works very hard - id love to have that physique one day! but then again, if i have to 'refuse tests' to get there, im happy to be on the lower rung.

As he competed in tha auckland champs and the north islands he must of been a nzpf member.

When joining the nzpf you sign up to the drug testing programme.

By not providing a sample you violate the drug testing protocols which lets face is the positive test. Either that or he was scared to show his shrunken balls from all the juice

How tall is this dude cause I'm sorry to claim he's natural at his size and age is just fucking stupid! I'm not putting him down and good on him for getting to where he is BUT this guy is heavier than Branch Warren when he steps on stage! Natural? Come on man

From this its pretty obvious he doesnt have any interest in Power lifting, so give da man a break.

I'm short mate, Lee Priest is my go to idol. I believe his size, just not that he's natural. It's his choice and to make it to the big stage in BB you gotta use AAS, all I'm saying is just don't claim he's natural when he isn't

Seems like you got a bit of a hard on for him. Look he decided to do some sanctioned powerlifting comps, which require you to give a smaple whenever drug free sport requires one. He didnt so he failed the drug test leading to this ban, no ifs buts or in betweens.

I think the point of the post is to show that NZ powerlifting is taking a very staunch stance against AAS use by competitors which I think is awesome. Unfortunately someone has refused to comply with the rules and is being made an example of, again, fucking fantastic! Regardless of this dudes size, I imagine this post would still be up!
