Lay off the beers then :-)

But seriously... there have gotta be ways to up the protein, whether it's tins of tuna in spring water, egg white omelettes for breakfast...

Meal timings too are important - no late night carb-rich essay writing :naughty:

Hey mate, I'm also a student down in Dunedin, there's a fair few of us on this board. Oats, eggs, whole milk, peanut butter, canned tuna/salmon are fantastic bulking foods, cheap, and quite healthy. I also usually buy heaps of blade steak or something when it's on special, dice it up and make a stew with it. 1kg bag of stirfry vege, 1kg of blade steak, chuck it in a slow cooker for 4-6 hours with water/spices/some tomato sauce for extra flavouring. Serve on rice or mash potatoes, Usually get 6 or so good sized meals out of it for $15-$20. I often do 2 a week, keeps fine for 3-4 days in the fridge.

Haha yeah, had so many uni mates pleading poverty but spending upwards of $50 a night on the piss (usually on the piss 3 nights a week).

If you really wanna add mass the booze has gotta go, it ain't easy but the results come alot faster, assuming your diet is good too. Dunna what's available in dunners but if you can find a place like moore-wilsons, you can buy bulk rice and peanut butter etc that can last a while and works out way cheaper per serving. The best peanut butter I can find for a good price is pams (no suggar added, very little oil added). Natural is better but you've gotta hand over about $8 for a pissy little jar.
