NZFBB membership status / Nationals qualification

Following a long phone conversation I have just had with Moe El Moussawi (NZFBB President), Moe has asked me to clarify two important decisions:

1. He has reconsidered his recent decision to prevent anyone who competes in any of the three planned IFBB South Pacific / Oceania events in Christchurch (Sept 25), Tauranga (Sept 25) and Auckland (Oct 9) from competing at Nationals. He would like to make it clear that any competitor who competes in ANY event not sanctioned by the IFBB will NOT lose their right to compete at Nationals. This, of course, is on the proviso that they qualify for Nationals in the traditional way i.e. place top-3 in their class at any official NZFBB regional event during the designated qualifying period (i.e. from the 2009 River City Classic through to the 2010 Waikato Muscle Tournament on Oct 9 for qualification to the 2010 NZFBB Nationals).

2. Moe also stated that the rule which forces NZFBB members who compete in any non-IFBB sanctioned event (e.g. NABBA NZ, NABBA/WFF, INBA etc) to automatically lose their financial membership has now been removed. i.e. if you are a current NZFBB member and you compete in a non-IFBB sanctioned event, your financial membership will now be retained for the full 12 month period.

Hopefully I've worded these to make them sufficiently clear in their intention. The bottom line is that competitors who either already have or who plan to qualify for the NZFBB Nationals can compete for another organisation without fear of losing their qualification and/or their financial membership prior to the 12 month expiry.

well well Terry can you ask moe why he is using nzfbb when he has change the name to NZIFBB so the way i see it what you have put up is to do with the old nzfbb and now he has his own rules for his new NZIFBB why cant he get you to use the new name. like a lot of people we are sick and tired of moe this and moe that. it would be better if he f--k of out of nz and leaves it to us kiwis to run our owe bodbuilding

Translation - Moe has realised that no-one will be fronting up to any NZFBB organised events. Talk about closing the gate after the horse has bolted!!!
A bit of an exaggeration, Snapper?!While a few more competitors may compete in Masterton and Wellington as a result of these decisions, Bevan and I already have big numbers preparing for these two events before this announcement was made.

It's been great to see big competitor numbers at recent events around the country - especially seeing plenty of new faces (and bodies!). Anything (like these decisions) to encourgage people to compete more often is a really good thing IMO.

Also, I want to clarify that I am merely conveying these decisions on behalf of the NZFBB and Moe ... I have not been on the Executive since April and my only official involvement with the NZFBB now is to co-organise next week's North Island Champs in Masterton (with Bevan) and organise the Wellington Champs on Sept 18.

you will get some numbers if you or anyone else from the past executive with credentials are organising Terry, but i have had my ear to the ground and the general consensus out there is that your every day average competitor has had a gutsful of Moe and his arrogance towards the members. The sooner he goes the better NZFBB will be, less corrupt, less politics, less arrogance and heavens forbid the shows may even be on time!!!

Dear Snapper,

I think you may be a little confused, misinformed or stuck in a time warp,

Shows ran late on a regular basis for many years before Moe (in fact the last few have run right on time...) with all atheletes being spoiled rotten and receiving star treatment and fantastic prizes including cash....

Nzfbb was corrupt before Moe.....that is general knowledge, problem is corruption is only corruption when someone else is doing it. The Nzfbb has been in far worse condition before Moe came on the scene.

Moe is a New Zealander.

Terry Hills has always run terrific shows and I think Terry will admit that he has done so with the help and Support of Moe.

Also as far as the NZFBB/NZIFBB , same thing! NZFBB is the IFBB branch in NZ....

Hope this clears up a few things for you, you seem quite angry. You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but lets get the facts straight...

PS Re corruption.....is it not corrupt to run illegal shows?

I think this latest decision by Moe, shows that he most definitely cares for the competitors, yet somehow you have tried to turn that into a negative as well???? I dont think it really matters what Moe does, people like you will turn it into a negative....I dont understand that mentality.

welcome in to Moes mate - perhaps you have been on the receiving end of a pro card or similar bbgotback?

but thats just being negative now isn't it?....

Also, I would like to take the opportunity to put forward another side or view point, I met Moe in 2004, and I have to say since than Moe has been a good friend of mine, he has suported me through out that time and been very kind to me and has asked nothing in return. So i have not seen the side of Moe that some of you are bagging. I have seen the man that is kind and generous and funny. He has a huge heart and cares about people. Yes he is busy and hard to get hold of, yes he may need to delegate more to people he trusts , that does"nt make him a bad or corrupt person.

What"s your point in quoting me Snapper?

Are you saying I dont deserve my Pro card after having competed as an amateur in NZ for 9 years, Winning every Regional I ever competed at, winning Ms NZ, being a multi national title holder in my class and runner up to OA and Placing third for middleweights at the largest Amateur show in the world??? Is that what you are saying Snapper??
