Rachelle Chase on TV - Raw Food Diet

firstly she is only 10 days into this totally new eating plan, .

Precisely - the news article is more a pre-result infomercial. Give Rachelle a bit of PR and gives Campbell viewers a bit of eye candy. (No dissrespect RC).

Diet is flawed in my opinion - I have a mate who has been a multiple world aerobic champion and he is vegan - as hard as he trains to put mass on between conditioning he struggles to get any mass gain at all.

Ten days into the plan and she has already lost weight!!! Womens weight fluctuation around "monthly cycles" is common and needs to be considered before we all celebrate. But good on her for having a crack and promoting the consumtion of vegies - lord knows we have some obese people sitting in KFC right now in NZ that should take it on board.

In saying that I have always wanted to test the opposite theory to the film "supersize me", and prep for a show but by only eating at McDs for the whole 12 week period, but by make my own mind up what I could choose from the menu. .... it could be done

... Oh and - the fact the "specialist" stated there was more protein in leafy greens suggests she may not be as "broadly qualified" .

Hey guys, Campbell Live approached me knowing I had just stared this diet, It is going 2 b filmed in 3 parts before, during & after. I am not trying to prove anything to anyone by doing this diet. It's simply a personal experiment.

I agree that not everything said was Correct and I did cringe a

Little when I heard the statements about veggies versus meat protien ratios.

In regards 2 my 4 hrs a day training, unfortunately this is true. During the lead up my last show I would do 1 hr Cardio before breakfast, up to an hr weight training followed by an hr cardio then 1 hr cardio before bed.

I had 2 work so hard to get my body to respond which is another reason why I wanted to try something new. If I find The diet is not working i will adjust it as I do with any new diet.

The raw food lady has possibly over simplified for TV, I believe she is referring to the concepts of both The protein digestibility corrected amino acid score (PDCAAS) which is used to assess the digestibility of a protein, and the biological value of a protein which tells us how efficiently protein is converted into tissue.

The comment of "more protein than cooked foods" is true to a point and pertains to the PDCAAS, the BV, type of food, and another limiting compounds in the food which can be altered either in their raw or cooked state.

Meat has a higher BV raw than it does cooked. Heard of carpaccio...or sashimi?...totally acceptable on a raw food diet, and has higher BV of proteins. The highest BV is whey protein FYI.

Is raw beef part of a "raw" diet ? If not, why not: discuss

Thanks for that - it was an honest question.

I look forward to Raechelle's reporting on how she finds it - it will be interesting.

it's not unfortunate RC :pfft:. You know ... (secretly) .... we all wish we had the time to train like that. :D You have to do what it takes to show at your best. Under those training conditions I could eat like ronnie Coleman and not put on weight
