whats your goals trusts is good but can be real busy at peak times and they dont have a huge selection of equipment so you will be waiting around

wolfs is good to but is full of bigboys so if your easily intimidated I wouldnt go plus you cant use chalk or chew gum haha

club physical westgate is great but also can get busy with heaps of posers talking for 10mins between there 30 sets of every exercise

your choice

1) Wolfs Gym Lincoln road ... Good selection, pretty laid back approach - bonus owner owns the building so wont be hit too hard through resession with rent rises and gst etc. Mikes a pretty up front about keeping costs down as well. $18 (if thats what they charge) is a fair price for this gym if your into lifting heavy. Fully support the no chalk rule - profitable clubs cater to the mainstream - I think its healthy to promote bodybuilding and pling but it doesn't appeal to everyone and chalk on your floors makes the place look untidy. (I'm bigger than 90% of body builders and I have never used it - wahwahwah :pfft: ).

2) Trust stadium ... broke into the western market saying they were going to re-invent the industry. Seems you can't just rely on the latest geear to bring the people in. I would rate it really unless your more fitness focused.

3) Les Mills > good facilities with a big price tag > Can't fault their aerobics platforms they are the best in the world ... but I'm not sure you are joining for the body jam classes. To be fair I havent been for a train there in ages but if its as well equiped as the city it would be fully trainable.

4) Club Physical Te Atatu . Going through a bit of a transformation - they relocated their aerobics room because a few of the fitness clients were worried about the boys ogling through the windo ... turns out the new location is more visible. Not very well communicated and the weight room is slightly less equiped than Wolfs. I believe the membership is comparable to les mills and comes with a term attached ... (were it not for the fact that I'm paying $9 per week for all CP gyms I'd probably have moved to wolfs aswell) Other opportunities include: the treadmills are in bad need of maintinance = when the strap goes shiny its dangerous and has probably gone through 4 life spans ..... most of the bars are bent and have been in the club for over 2 decades .... During the course of the refurb the gym is way more congested, again another health and safety issue not really being observed by their team.

The new lynn club is well established also > good training culture there though - the club is managed by Steve King .. very well known Plifter and top guy. Equipment is well used but definately functional. Westgate is well equipt also however I find it a bit constrained for space on the weights floor. A bit clostrophobic. Nice club though overall.

5) Westwave ... don't bother waste of time.

optimass got it spot on ive been a member of every gym bar less mills out west

club physical spent a long time not investing back in there business and it showed lol

westgate is nice gets busy as hell this time of year you can almost see the change all the fat people when it gets sunny haha anyway id say wolfs is great unless your fitness focused eg there is none of those classes as he said up there no one is going to beat less mills at that so if i where you id pick between those two :D

I used to train at alot of club physicals but mostly the Te Atatu one.

good friendly stuff but equipment is becoming in bad shape and is quite crowded in the afternoons.

new lynn and west gate are alright but they also get quite crowded.

Wolfs is a good gym they have some really good equipment and is hardly ever full and really good for strength tarining and building alot of muscle due to the good equipment.

Wolfs is now my new home

Just my 2c worth lol
