A Newbie Question

Recommended Posts

its me again, asking newbie questions... i wasnt sure if i should post this in the "Newbie Mistakes" thread.... i guess il just do it here.

Whats the fastest/most effective/best way to bring your body upto bodybuilding standards, even for a teenager? I've been thinking of following jono's footsteps.... spend most of the year, if not, the whole year, just to add mass and make myself huge, and then start on the mission to dopr the bodyfat and get ripped... I would like to do a Mr Teen competition or even just a regional BB comp in my last year of high school (2007) and i dont wana be a tiny dude on stage...

i will be waiting for all your wisdom here on NZBB :pfft:

my advice would be to do plenty of free weight basics like dleadlifts, squats, benchpress, chinups etc,and eat plenty of clean food as you can with maybe a free day once a week to keep you sane trust me if you can do this for atleast a year you will be on stage oneday but you really got to eat alot and keep a food diary,i thought i was eating alot untill i wrote my meals on paper it was then i realised i was eating jack shit, this is proberly the number one mistake a newbie makes.another thing is dont read to much into all these magic pills that are gonna make you huge in two weeks most of them are a waste of money i belive when starting out all you really need in the way of supplements would be creatine, glutamine, protein powder, and multi tablets all the rest would be real foods for serious mass.

i would proberly bulk as long as i could and then cut when you thought you were big enough as jono is doing mind you being your age you should not neglect abit of fitness maybe once, twice a week.

as you can tell iam no expert just a few thoughts of mine to think about.

If you're looking for the best program that will take you where you want to be I don't really think you'll find one.

Generally speaking, all (non-rediculously-retarded) programs have place in training, it just depends on how you sequence them in relation to your personal ability. It's fairly obvious that if you're a novice you wouldn't use a program designed for an elite athlete and so forth.

If you're a beginner you might want to start getting acquainted with technique, motorskill learning/preparing your connective tissue for heavier loading. Then move onto heavier and more challenging things. Get some sort of periodization sheme going.

You might find several programs that are aimed to achieve the same goal, but are structured completely different from each other. There're 1000's of combinations on how you might go about it. (Nobody tell HIT-Jedi's.)

IMO, just increase the weight on the bar overtime, eat some food, sleep. Repeat x years.
