Universal Nutrition INTRA-AID Trial

In an earlier thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=9234 I gave my 10 cents about a sample of Universal Intra-aid I had tried.

My sponsor, the team at http://www.bodybuilding.co.nz , has now sent me a 1.74lb tub of the stuff to try. In return I decided I'd run a trial of it for two weeks and report on my thoughts and results on the product.

As an aside I've always hated people (particularly sponsored athletes, usually in Flex Magazine! :pfft: ) that make claims about products that are absolutely BS. What makes it worse is that most people that have trained for any period of time, and have more than two brain cells to rub together, know these claims are BS. I'm not here to scam newbies!

I'll be calling it as I see it, and remaining as objective as I can. My own credibility is important to me. Hennie agrees, and actually said to me he didn't want me hyping any of his products if I didn't believe in them. I appreciate that in a Supplement retailer - there's only a couple of others with that attitude that I've come across (certainly not Health 2000 & other mainstream supplement retailers with some of the arse they've pushed on people over the years!!! ).

Anyway I'll start it today for implements and report back. If anyone has any specific questions about the product just ask & I'll do my best to give an objective answer / opinion on it.

Nate, what does the container promise this stuff will do?
Intra-Aid. Targeted Intra-Workout Supplementation.

Proper workout nutrition (intra-workout) is an area that is being supported by a legit, growing body of science. Intra-workout nutrition represents the next big nutritional frontier for bodybuilders and weightlifters. Even so, many lifers often ignore this period. Why is targeted intra-workout supplementation so important? Here's a short list: proper rehydration, muscle and liver glycogen re-synthesis, improved immune function, decreased muscle catabolism, increased muscle protein synthesis, increased muscle anabolism, faster recovery and training at a higher intensity. It's amazing how so many benefits can get overlooked. Intra-Aid? brings intra-workout nutrition into the 21st century. It's a combination of key complexes that work in synergy to maximize the aforementioned benefits of workout supplementation. Intra-Aid consists of 5 potent components: fast-acting hydrolyzed protein, a highly specialized carbohydrate blend, critical electrolytes, an essential amino acid blend, and key ergogenic agents. Intra-Aid combines all of the scientific benefits of proper intra-workout supplementation, leaving out the guesswork. The gym water fountain and popular high fructose "sports" drinks may be good for the regular athlete, but for the serious weight lifter, they just can't compare. Think of Intra-Aid as first-aid for your workout.

I tried out the Intra Aid on implement day as planned.

I managed to chop through it pretty quickly so maybe need this and my usual drink (I usually get through at least a litre of fluids in training).

The session went well - Log Press was very explosive at 90kg, although I've effectively deloaded, so some confounding variables. Either way the went very well.

Was very focused on stones doing a good series with 80, 90, 120 onto barrells. Still couldn't muscle up the 146kg Atlas Stone though.

Unfortunately I did tyre flip and tore a bicep / brachialis so a bad ending!!!

Seemed pretty focused and good lifts. Will use throughout next weeks gym trainings and review from there.

An unusal twist to the trial, (other than the bicep/brachialis strain), got a case of the man flu, more of a cough/headcold thing. Anyway flagged half a day on Friday, then dragged myself into work. Went to the gym but couldn't really be assed, plus back was scheduled and my injury had that f*cked from the start.

Took the Intra-aid and started some rehab bicep work, then started to pick up. One thing I noticed is that it really made the Deep Heat on my knees & elbows tingle! I noticed this the other day under my knee sleeves, must be something to do with skin temperature and that tingly beta-alanine effect???

Anyway decided against my better judgement to just do some light deadlifts to see how the arm felt with a double overhand grip & straps. Seemed okay so I went on to pull 240x3, which was equal to my previous best triple! Not quite sure how I did this!!

Rest of the workout was a time filler, just left back & did some calves, nothing special.

In retrospect I was rapt with the Deads, unfortunately I paid it back Fri night sick in bed withoin 2 hours of geeting home!!!! Oh well!

Will continue next week.

Still having a few coughing fits & spitting some ugly shit up so wasn't expecting a lot. Used the Intra-Aid to wash down Sudafed!!!

BUT... had another good workout, managed to equal a PR on Zerchers (180x3), which was miles better than the rough single I managed 5 weeks or so ago. Also did some good low box squats with bands.

The verdict.

I think Intra-Aid is worth a shot.

I'll add it to the mix from time to time from here on in (will cycle in the same fashion as my pre-workout supplements). Only thing I need to do is have another drink (probably a half serve of my usual protein/carb drink) as my workouts tend to drag & I finish the Intra-Aid pretty fast & get hungry!!
