hi all, i'm a personal trainer and the majority of my clients i deal with are women for general weightloss and fitness, but have just had one of my clients mention that he would like to bulk up etc and maybe enter a comp in the future so I thought I would have a look at this site. To get ideas on where he should start ie. how to enter etc.

I have trained many women for competitions, but never a man. It is quite a specialised field and you might be wise to pass them onto a male trainer who has competed himself, im a great believer that you have to experience something first hand to appreciate what is required. It may be that you can work in together with another trainer. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hey Scaryspice, welcome to the forums. I've got to agree with Cantygirl - you're probably best to experience a competition yourself first (if only so you've got some idea of the torture you're putting your client thourgh!).

Having said that, good on you for being prepared to do the research for them. I'm sure you'll find some useful info here, both for your bodybuilder and your more mainstream clients too - we try to keep a foot in both camps.

Gee guys thanks so much for your input, and yes you are quite right I do feel that this is out of my depth, and a bit beyond me. And I think that it would be a good idea that he gets info etc from someone that has been through it before. Will do a bit of research locally and see how we go. Will keep you posted. Thanks so much once again
