Protein Supplement Quality

Im new to the protein supplement scene and have some noob questions..

What do you look out for when determining the QUALITY of a brands protein supplements? And im not talking about how well it dissolves in your shaker or how it tastes.

Is eatme.net.nz good quality protein compared to lets say the more well known brand optimum nutrition. Which would you rather go for and why? Besides price (i noticed eatme is well priced). Taking one look at the website it looks a little 'dodgy'.. do we know anything about their facilities, food grading system etc?

Recommendations?

Any tips would be very much appreciated thanks

Eatme is fine they are not dodgey, in fact most NZ companies that post on this site are very good.

Really most protein is much of a muchness so really it just comes down to price and a taste you prefer.

Personally I deal with Hennie and the team at http://www.bodybuilding.co.nz/supplements/nutratech.html they have always been good and quick with delivery. The link above takes you to their Nutratech range which is a very cheap, good quality protein.

especially watch out for Aspartame and even Sucralose to name a few

Why?

For a start Aspartame is a neurotoxin and has resulted in more complaints than any other food additive ever approved in FDA history, due to its side effects... which have included reports of nervous system damage and a host of other serious complications... Aspartame was once banned we can thank Donald Rumsfelt for that one..I could go on about this all night...

most well known brands will serve you well. The actual powder you choose will not have a noticeable effect on body composition, presuming you're going low carb powders. I would avoid paying the premium price for pure isolates- that stuff just gets absorbed too fast.

depending on what your goals are & how much detail you are paying to your diet isolates definatly have their place & if you are buying in bulk they don't end up any more expensive than buying your well known brands, but each to their own..

They do also sell normal protein on that site, works out at $32 per bag if you are buying in bulk, awesome pricing & once again no artificial sweetners and shit.

If i have just finished a workout for instance i don't see the probelm with having a nice big isolate shake that is going to be absorbed really fast.

I understand why Aspartame is a bad option and its link to the world most famous drink.

But was more interested in Sucralose?

There hasent been many studies on humans for Sucralose, I stand corrected there is no long term human research on Sucralose but in animals the effects are pretty damaging.... birth abnormalities...enlarged kidneys..shrunken thymus gland....decreased red cell count etc....

Also there is an issue with Sucralose being of some concern being a chlorinated molecule. Some chlorinated molecules serve as the basis for pesticides such as D.D.T

I bought the chocolate and it tastes great, no complaints : )

Did you email them for the samples?

And how do you guys measure 30grams? Without pressing the powder down and compacting it around how many mLs is that? or do yo guys just throw in a rough estimate of heaped table spoons?
