Dbol Back pump

Recommended Posts

The old "back pump" thread again! I've seen this one repeated year after year and I'm still to see a decent scientific article to explain this phenomena. From memory the two main theories are:

1) DBol (and other AAS's like Anapolon) cause increased red blood cell production. The lower back muscles are relatively small and pump up quickly with the increased blood volume, (kinda like a bicep I guess), hence the intense pump feeling. If this is correct I would've expected to hear a lot more about this phenomenon from cyclists & endurance athletes using EPO (which produces a heap more RBCs). Not a lot you can do if this theory is correct (other than go off DBol or donate some blood! ).

2) That the 'pump' is actually from water retention and the associated pressure placed on your kidneys. If this theory is correct you could try some mild herbal diruetics to drop a little water.

I don't know if the latter theory is saying that kidney damage is possible from the increased water held but it might pay to get your renal functions tested (and your blood pressure while you're there).

Just a theoretical stab at a solution really thatwaslight, an experienced AAS user may have some practical advice such as stretches that relieve the 'pump'.

Deduce the dose. 50mg is getting up there if you have quality product. Tons of theories as alluded by Nate. Some suggest success with increased magnesium & potassium. Others have relief from using AI's to help water retention. Personally I think you are using Dbol to help increase weight & strength so one side effect is water retention, another is estrogen increase. Maybe look at lowering the dose & using some NSAID's like Voltaren @ 25-50mg ed.

Reduce the d-bol and get some milk-thisle. I can only go on d-bol for 3-4 weeks at a time any longer and I cant do any bent over movements. I use d-bol as a short term boost mainly for fun! \:D/

39 meals a day & d-bol , you must be a f**king monster :pfft:

Why milk thistle jimjim?

I am aware of AAS users taking this for liver protection but for either of the above explanations for the 'back pump' (increased RBC count or water retention which is primarily a renal activity) it seems to have little relevance?

Some users on forums over the years swear by using milk thistle for DBol pumps. How it works I dont know but I tend to run some when using orals just to try & keep the liver tidy & I dont have any real bad issues with DBol back pain so there may be something in it. THatwaslight, it might be interesting to hit some MT up to see if it has any curative effects.

Thanks MNZ, yes i have heard of using milk thistle for combating pump if this is true it would kill two birds with one stone so i think i might give it a go.

I have dropped my dose back to 30 mg for the moment and the pump is almost bearable so ill see how i go.

Had it recomended by musclenz and it worked wonders for me. If it works it works dont question the science (or musclenz)!! Liver protection is an added bonus.

Good post..I dont get them when im lean but more when carrying a bit of extra padding so that gives "weight:" to water retention in my case I think.
