EGG: Protein vs Cholesterol

I know it may sound stupid but my question is how many eggs should you eat per day if you regularly exercise ~5x/week?

Coz growing up I've been told that eeg has cholesterol and if had too much can cause vasular disease. But since i started working out 2 yrs ago I also been hearing from bodybuilders and athlete that egg is a good source if protein which our muscle needs.

So I was wondering how much egg you guys eat coz I'm stuck in a dilemma here....

i eat at least 7 whole eggs a day and my cholesterol levels haven't been affected. if you're concerned about cholesterol then just eat the whites :D

eggs have received a lot of bad press over the last couple decades, which is ironic considering the amount of shit people eat these days

i eat 6 egg whites and 1 whole egg for breakfast every morning, no bad stuff in the whites, but i am pretty sure that most of the bad stuff in the yellow goes through your system without getting stuck in there..

can anyone clarify this?

The myth about eggs being bad for you started about 40 years ago. A group of people studying Cholesterol surveyed a whole lot of truckies who had high Cholesterol. Some one noticed that the men with the highest readings eat more eggs, so they blamed the results on the eggs, not there lifestyle. I eat about 30 whole eggs a week, and my bloodwork came back fine about 3 weeks ago.

The eggs and cholesterol myth were put to bed quite awhile ago now, it was found that it was the food consumed with the eggs that were the problem as BigPauli said, the good old fry up of bacon, eggs, sausages, beans etc. Studies show that eggs have virtually no effect on cholesterol levels, it`s the fat used to fry eggs that`s a cause for concern for cholesterol.

I usually eat around 6-10 eggs a day.. But out of that 10 id only eat 4/5 yolks...

I also read up on some recent studies and apparently they were done with 6/7 eggs A WEEK? What stats were done with your studies Lazarus?

The Famous Egg topic is tricky... IF you are cautious about it, id say eat 1 yolk for every 2/3 eggs...

If you arent... Munch them all LOL...

I actually cant eat to much yolks anyways. Get sick of them...

I eat up to 36 eggs a week my cholesterol is fine in fact it's low.

I didn't know that about the study being conducted on truckies.

The way you cook them would definitely have an effect on the nutritional value of the egg, whether you fry them or boil them etc. I eat my poached or soft boiled no extra crap going into them.

I think they are a great source of protein and they are quick and easy.

If we weren't meant to eat loads of them why does god sell them in packs of 36?

:pfft:

I`m not sure on the number of eggs in the study but it was done through Surrey Universtiy in the UK.

There is an abundance of goodness in the egg yolk, I eat 5 eggs per day though only 1 whole egg the rest are the whites, only because im watching the calorie intake. Like what has been said before, most people experience no ill effect from consuming the whole egg, perhaps if you have a cholesterol problem or a family history of it, be more cautious.
