Figured it was about time I posted, been reading the forums for a few weeks and I must say there is some fantastic information here, very useful. I'm a 19 year old student at Otago University in Dunedin. I'm studying towards a bachelor of physical education, double majoring in exercise prescription and management and exercise science. I've been training on and off for about 3 years now, started when my parents got a crappy home gym machine they never used. I feel i'm at a point where I should either cut and get back the appearance I want, or bulk for a bit and get some more muscle and strength before getting ripped again. I want to keep up my aerobic fitness/sprinting speed as well, for health and functionality reasons.

I'm 6'1 and currently 86kg, I like the definition I had at 80kg and 8% BF, but I want to add 5-10kg or so of muscle to that definition. I plan on bulking to about 95kg then dropping back to between 85 and 90kg, but being around 8% BF at that weight, whereas I'm currently around 13-14% ( Used an impedance machine to test the 8% and i'm just guessing at my current level)

Anyway here's my current regime;

Monday - Gymnastics class for 50mins and dance class for 50mins

Tuesday-

Leg press 3 sets 12 reps to 10 reps to 8 reps, increasing weight.

DB chest press 6 sets, start at low weight and do 15 reps, increase weight each set and set 3 and 4 are 5-6 reps, then back the weight down again.

DB incline chest press 3 sets 8-10 reps

DB shoulder press 2 sets 8-10 reps

Chin ups/pull ups 2-3 sets of each, until failure.

Seated rows 4 sets 8-10 reps

5 minutes or so of Abs

Wednesday- Same as monday

Thursday- Same as Tuesday

Friday - HIIT, I jog 10 min to a field where I sprint the length of a rugby field and then jog around it back to the starting point and sprint the length again. I do this between 6-10 times depending on how I feel and then jog 10 mins back home.

Saturday - Same as Tuesday

Sunday - rest

I don't train legs much at all because I do a lot of walking to uni most days and use them a lot in gymnastics class and fridays, Don't really want to have sore legs. I'm quite happy with their size/strength also, mainly just trying to get a GH boost from them.

I've just received a Mass Stack from eatme.co.nz also, after always using chocolate balance whey products I thought i'd try strawberry eatme, must say I prefer chocolate which is lucky that my other 3kgs are choc, should get through this first kg quite quickly anyway.

Well that's a bit, maybe a lot, about me haha. Look forward to contributing to the forums, but i'll probably be more a receiver than giver of knowledge. Nonetheless if there's anything I can offer some insight to i'll be sure to do so.

Yeah gymnastics is part of the PE course, a lot of fun actually, I'm 2nd year but basically doing the first and 2nd year PE papers. Not strong enough haha. Seriously, I quite often see guys much smaller lifting the same or more. Currently doing 27.5kg chest press at 5-6 reps, my 65kg flat mate can do the same. I think it's got something to do with the neurological aspect, like i'm possibly not activating as many motor units as I could be.

So glad I decided to make the switch to PE, took phse102 last year which was fantastic and inspired me to do PE fulltime, loving gym and dance and exercise physiology too. Noticed warkworth fitness centre, you from warkworth? I'm from puhoi and went to Mahurangi college.

I think you just need to get stronger...

I'm not sure how to explain it, I KNOW I have a lot more muscle mass than him, we've both had electro-impedance body analysis scans done, yet push similar weights. But yes, getting stronger is definitely a goal :)

Seems to be quite a few phedders here weajo, surprised I got the name then haha. Do you happen to be the guy who quite often comes in just before the lecture, looking like you've just been at the gym and always sipping on something?

I'm thinking I might have to get a membership over summer, my summer job is pretty physical, Puhoi River Canoe Hires, cuts me quite good but I lost a lot of strength not having any proper weights to use last summer, Kayaks are a bit awkward.

Yeah Weajo, massive drink bottle haha. You're in bloody good shape, I've seen you at Unipol a few times too. Best of luck for the competition.
