Getting Back into it!!

HI all,

well its been 7 years since I competed and I just have to get back into shape! I've been weight training since I was 14 (now 38) won 2003 NZFBB North Island champs overall figure and was 3rd in 2003 Nationals Novice womens figure tall class. Was such a buzz and had wonderful mentor - Lisa Cameron. I now have a problem with degenerative disk problem in L5/S1 and hope that getting back on form will alleviate some of the pain - so open for any god advice on the topic! \:D/

Cheers for the welcomes! There were some good tips put forth on Titan90's query on lower back pain. I think the first focus will be core strength and glute training as I know I'm lacking there, and hopefully this will lift and stabilize my spine so it stops pressing on my sciatic - boy I'm over that pain! Hopefully the saying "What doesnt' kill you makes you stronger" applies :D

I have the exact same problem with my lower back, just confirmed it earlier in the week with xrays. I have found stretching my quads, hip flexors and back while working on my hammies and core muscles is starting to ease the pain after 2 months of constant pain. Mine is to do with an anterior tilt which i am doing the above to correct.

And welcome, hope you enjoy your stay :)

Thanks for the advice, and good luck on managing your problem!. I can see the relation between having an anterior tilt and how it can transfer extra loading to your back - I'm interested.. what is it that points to you having a tilt? Its not something that I've been aware of before.

Thanks for the welcome
