CKD - ketogenic dieting

there is very little info on here regarding CKD, suprising considering its popularity overseas. its very similar to the 'anabolic diet', in fact, almost identical. the basic premise of a 24-48 hour carbup weekly, coupled with a moderate protein, high fat, extremely low carb diet the rest of the week.

I am having my first crack at Keto, into 3rd day now. eating mince, sourcream, eggs, mayo, full cream, tuna in olive oil. its strange eating all these type foods, but all my research on CKD points to it being successful if you take a disciplined approach. <30g carbs ED isnt as hard as youd think!

So, anyone here used CKD successfully before? seems most people, esp high bf%, can recomp very, very well, without needing cardio until they hit 14> bf%

keen to hear your experiences

I've had some success with the anabolic diet, going from 23.5% to 21%, and still dropping. My daily carb intake was less than 20g. I have to admit though, that I wasn't always that strict with the carbups, so the results could have been better. After some experimentation, I figured out that Sunday afternoon and evening was a long-enough carbup for me, rather than the whole weekend. Also could have made a difference.

I find that it not only works, but is very easy to stick to. And it's not necessary to be all that bland in your diet, you can get pretty creative.

I had an interesting experiment in the weekend, well Saturday night actually. Saw my trainer on Saturday and we talked about how to get this body of mine to drop some more weight (2 weeks out from comp). I had a really good chat with a past competitor now judge on the Friday and she told me about her binge carb up once p.wk and how she would drop more than a kilo of bodyweight, kinda got me thinking. Anyway, my trainer said hey if your game, so am I, so I had some fun on Saturday. Started with fish and chips, followed by chocolate, muffin, superwine biscuits and then I sat down like a stone. Hadnt ate anything like that in 8 weeks, I also had a great shunt of bodyweight. I figure, if you don't try, you will never know. I think you get to a stage when your diet is so clean and minimal that short of killing yourself cardioing, what is left? Complete opposite for a few hours followed by strict, strict eating and hey presto.

Yep when bodyweight (fat %) drops to a point - metabolism slows and body tends to 'hold' more strongly onto your last reserves. Eating a few more calories and fats tricks the body that the conditions arent as adverse as it thinks they are and your metabolism shuttles up again...Hence why I believe super strict diets of low carb and fat proportions all the time arent great when you're in comp mode because they are hard to follow physically, psychologically and you dont get the same good condition out of your body onstage as if you had a few 'easier' days on yourself along the way
