Carying more kgs

I know theres is only a few big guys on here (125kg+) and was wondering how you find carrying the heavier bodyweight. Im at 135kg now -aiming for 140 or so, and would be keen to hear about any issues you may have had with it. Big fellas like Chad Aichs have reported sleep issues (Chad epsecialy suffers from terrble sleep deprivation), sore joints etc all being a small price to pay for being exceptionally strong and muscular.

Its not only powerlifters but bodybuiders too that may be affected ...as you know some of the world largest BB are weighing over 125+

Personally, I havent had too much to deal with yet but I have noticed that I run a bit hotter than in the past than at a lighter weight, sleep is not the quality it used to be (other factors in my life will be part of this like the famous sheiko flu and accumulated fatigue :twisted: ) but other than that all is managable.

Thoughts?

Though I am no where near the sizes you mention (I am at 97kg), I have found that when I went over my base weight (not weight trained-84kg) I had issues with sore feet.

I figured it was due to the extra weight that it was not ready for. The feet don't grow to accomodate the increase. Maybe it's just me?

I also found that sleep was at times uncomfortable. This is just at my weight, so if I got to my goal of 100 (short term goal) I would expect further increases in discomfort. If people start off at 96kg, I guess they already have th ephysiology to accomodate it, and would going above cause the same discomfort? mmmm, we ask the same question really.

Looking at the Olypmia crew, they must surely find sleep an issue (tranquilisers aside).

I hear you, since I have been training heavily i constantly have cold/flu like problems.

At 117 not near you but interestingly when I was in untrained state almost 2 years ago was 125 and had no problem sleeping- booze maybe?

trimmed down to low of 108 and slowly building back up and yeah sleep is difficult.

Aching muscles, stiffness etc, a good night sleep 6 hours and often wake at least once during that.

Body def sweats a lot more these days, good for water consumption though

I've put on 20kgs over 3 years and am sitting at 126-129kg.

I moved up from heavyweight (105kg) class to the supers (105+kg).

Best move I've done in regards to strength gains. I agree with Steak in that I run a bit hotter and I drink a hell of lot of water now than I ever have. Sleep is good though.

No injuries have arisen due to weight increase. I feel having the extra mass helps with lifting .......................................and my need to eat what I want :P

Im not quite big enough too comment too heavily Im sitting at 112-113kg now that im not worrying about trying to cut to make weight. Sleep has ben the biggest issue for me, sleep anywhere from 5-10hrs a night plus naps in the afternoon. Breathings alot heavier now, snorings becoming an issue too. My bodys slowly adapting to the added size seeing as my untrained weight was between 70-75kg. Still havent finished gaining weight would like to sit around 120-125kgs in the next 24months.

I think first you have to look at how you carry the weight and how quickly you are putting the weight on. When I go all out bulk the weight comes on easy and quick but i feel like shit. It usually takes me a few months for my body to get used to the weight and for me to feel normal again. I would say get heavy steak but be careful as it all seams sweet coz your getting bigger and stronger and then all of a sudden Bang urv got high BP. Watch the water weight.

This is a good point..Its easy to stack on a gut :lol: I have but Im prepared to drop it when/if Im ready. My weight gain is purely for strength gains. I can look better later on. Its not easy work either.

Eating has become a job...a tedious slighly unrewarding job that takes time to prepare, pack, travel with, eat and consume religiously EVERY 2.5-3hours or all hell will break loose :twisted: Its no short term contract either if your serious about it...Hey PMan...what was the ratio of calories eaten to muscle gained? It was a stagering amount anyways. $$ is another thing altogether :roll:

True. regular checking is a must. water hasnt been an issue thankfully but the occasional bout of chocolate milk bloat has popped up :lol:

I'm not here to preach healthy living as I don't exactly do it myself. But if I was getting around the 130kg 140kg mark I would def be doing cardio. I think there is a common misconception that cardio means that you will need more cals etc. But I belive it allows you to eat more and train harder and longer if need be. It also most importantly keeps you healthy(er).

On the note of side effects of weight gain I find that when i put on weight I wake up in the night with dead arms if lye on them, also heavy breathing if it comes on quick too.

Doing very well steak but as suggested ^^ I believe you have got to look at whether the weight is healthy weight or unhealthy weight. Obviously this is somewhat determined by body mass & BF% ratio. Then there is the cardiovascular system measured by blood pressure, heart rate , lung capacity etc Keep it healthy & be aware of any extra stress you may be putting on your body. Get checks & bloods run regularly

Waking up in the middle of the night with numb arms and shoulder kills me when Im around 110kg. Anything over 100kgs and I snore like a MOFO apparently.

If my body can't handle the weight gain it lets me know. Seems that if I have put on weight too fast for a period of like 10-15 minutes where I should be starting to sweat I just get the most intense itching sensations all over my body. And when you're heavy you generally sweat a lot = a lot of itching like a p-fiend. Cardio keeps it under control, I try to do some form of exercise outside the gym everyday (be it walking, playing touch, rugby or badminton). I find if I do nothing for a weak or so it gets especially bad and takes me a few weeks to get back on top of it. I think I am a walking sign of how important cardio is for us big guys. I know I'm doing alright if I get a sweat up walking to the fridge.

Doing well at the moment but, feeling fitter and a lot lighter on my feet compared to the condition I was in at 105kgs 2 years ago. Currently sitting at 119.

The more qualtity bodyweight I put on the stronger my training becomes, but I know that if I pack on to much in both areas I seem to get alot of discomfort in bed and when im in a relaxed state. Still heading for the 115kg though. :nod:

I honestly dont think I could handle the current workload running my calories much lower than than they are now. Some of the trains are taking over 2.5 hours and a few have reached the 3 hour mark especially in week 3 doing squat bench squat. I have no problem with ths sort of duration as long as Im getting stronger and the energy is there to support it.

Adding the GPP/conditioning as the 4th sesion of the week has seen my "fitness' become better and helps with recovery so that is now an integeral part of the training without any specific cardio work.

Blimey, thats a long workout time steak!! Is that quite the norm for Powerlifting? I dont really know much about Powerlifting training for me its BB all the way. Cardio for 30mins in morn and weights in eve, except weekends when its only weights or cardio.

Saying that though I wouldn't mind trying to do some of your type of lifting at some point, just to see that I could do!

Anyone with wide shoulders on here that finds it hard sleeping on their sides at night? Like you have to dislocate your shoulder to be lying flat? :?

And if like now I am working away and have a hard bed where im staying its bloody murder!!!!!!!! Laying on my back is not much better as I end up waking myself from snoring. lol

Hah I'm so glad someone else knows what it's like!! Your lucky you can get to sleep on your back in the first place even if the snoring does wake you up, I just have to put up with it :evil:

Yes I can relate to this, When I sleep on my sides the whole arm fills up with fluid to the fingers. This then causes a sensation which wakes me up and I have to stand and shake the arm and it loosens out after a minute or so. While I don't have any problems sleeping I find this disruptive coz I can't sleep consecutively for more than 3 hrs. I tend to sleep on my tummy or facing upwards or slightly tilted to the sides. I hope it won't any worse.
