Eketahuna Stone

Recommended Posts

I had another crack at the large Eketahuna stone.... literally!

It was bigger than our atlas' and at least 145, possibly 160+.

Tried breaking from ground but was slippery & heavy. Third attempt it all went bad...... a real shame.

It was an awesome stone btw - almost perfectly spherical like a man-made Atlas Stone, probably heavier than any of ours though??

When you've got no tacky you need to 'crush' the stone to stop it slipping - I think I took this too literally!

The owner wont say anything when he finds out who broke it, people dont mess with people who lift rocks for fun and they certainly dont mess with people who break rock with their bare hands

LMAO - really though I'm pretty respectful when it comes to other peoples property. On my way back I called in and found out who the owner was. I talked to the owners wife, at the time he was at the gun club! Anyway she was a lovely lady - when I told her about Strongman & Stonelifting she said she was just glad the little brats that live down the road that wrecked her garden hadn't broke it!

Good on ya for telling the owner; the force is strong in this strongman.

Couple roles of ductape might fix it!

Haha good stuff gymsta,, perfect picture!

ROFL

When the text came up and it said 'ill be the last to try' i was thinking some asshole must have stolen it or something, then i see you manage to break it whilst lazily rolling it onto another stone lol!

Also, i saw that sly look over to your left at 0:15s, gunna try the smaller one instead?! haha

The other stone you refer to first was the 1/4 or so of the big one that broke off as I attempted the third time! (missed it on video). I put it back in the hole & tried rolling the rest back - and it fell apart!!!!

I've lifted the smaller one before (hungover as f*ck from AC/DC concert!) but not the other two small ones on the other side of the driveway. The 3 remaining stones would be a good challenge for most (prob 60-80kg?).
