the day after the deadlift

Recommended Posts

Just wondering, is it normal to have quite a stiff and painful back the day after doing a fairly intense dead-lift session? I'm still relatively new to the exercise but am wondering if the pain the next day is normal.

The pain and stiffness is mainly in my lower back and a little in my lats also. Any movement of the lower back will cause pain so thing like bending over to pick something up is a nightmare.

Cheers for the feedback!

I don't thing its good to have lower back pain after deadlifts, if you are training your hamstrings shouldn't the DOMS be there? Also best to train without belts etc, only makes you lazy. (just let me get my hard hat on before you blast me)

No exercise is going to train any single muscle, especially not something like a deadlift. You can't really think of a big lift like that as working any one body part.

Ive heard it quoted many times that the dead lift incorparates 80% of the musles in your body. Many would say it is the king lift.
