old fella - Thread Wrap Up

Nice kitchen sink there oldfella! Agree with MNZ on T3, keep it light and it should be fine or run a little T4 instead. Never heard of Nolva cancelling Fem. Fem is an aromatase inhibitor and Nolva is an estrogen blocker so together they should get it close to near zero estrogen activity which will help the fat loss. usual comp dose of Fem is 2,5mg/day and up to 5mg/day so you should be sweet on 2mg/day. Is the mood enhancer another type of stimulant? If this does not melt the fat right off you, the problem is psychological. Earthquakes, home-life, comming out of the closet :pfft: and other stresses can put you in the wrong head-space for competing and if you are not in the right head-space from the beginning, no amount of chemicals or cardio will get you in good shape. It's a mental game....Or maybe you just eat too much fruit lol

Funny bugger eh :pfft:

Yeh, head space is the big problem at the moment. Teaspoon of cement in the mornings as well eh.

For interest sake what is your training history?

Thought I’d give a brief bio as nate queried it.

Went to my first gym at 18. It was the American Health Studios on Madras St. Back in the late 70’s. Three of us flatmates went along but only I lasted. Really enjoyed it. Focused on general fitness. They had the electric shock gear there. I used it for abs. They’d strap it on and leave you for 20 mins while those particular muscles got shocked. Worked a treat. Except one day I fell asleep and the guy forgot to come back. 40mins on there and my guts hurt for days.

As you read below bear in mind there was always decent lengths of time between going to each gym. It was never constant.

Moved down south and wound up at Gold’s Gym. Sid Cummings used to train there and I believe he wound up owning it. Also went to the Invercargill YMCA where moving bigger weights got my attention. Also learned that sticking to regular cardio makes a big difference to your weight.

Back up to Chch and started at the Pioneer Stadium. Had Dan Hibbs PT me for while working on my dodgy back.

All the time mostly focusing on general fitness. Slacked off again and it wasn’t until me and my brothers had a bet on who was the heaviest, that things changed. I always thought I was the fit one but wound up the heaviest.

Off to Pro Fitness. Went there for a while and after watching some boxing figured that as those guys have to last 15 rounds taking the boxing classes with Fitzy should get me fit. Really enjoyed that but didn’t lose enough fat.

After watching the big guys round the gym, got onto Boris Shamerev as a PT who taught me how to move decent weights. After a while he moved on so I hooked up with Mike Debenham. We both knew I needed to lose weight so I asked him one day if I could do a bbers diet, but not compete. Did that and went from 91 to 82kgs. The following year was the big birthday and I figured that something different to help celebrate that milestone would be to compete. So we set that goal, got it and the rest is history.

Have had workout and diet assistance from Mike Kingsnorth and Dean Geddes as well. Great guys and very helpful. Always believed that you get the best advice from people that have the actual experience.

Hope that wasn’t boring but should provide some background.

A teaspoon of cement huh??? Good for holding weight and the fibre in the fruit will stop you from shitting bricks... I see how your secret weapon works. I have seen someone just touching on the topic 2,4- Dinitrophenol (DNP). Do not go seeking this compound for your stack. It is a very interesting and exciting compound that does show up now and then. But unless you have made it yourself and are 100% confident of the dose its one of those compounds that can kill you. Its' nickname is 'Chemical Cardio" but it is a poison used in pesticides and dyes. Risk vs reward is highly in favour of risk!!!

Just thought I'd clarify something as far the supps go.

I have taken advice from a very experienced, knowledgeable competitor that has won a multitude of class wins and titles. There's also a couple other experienced guys who have helped.

I don't have anywhere near his expertise so won't go off half cocked chucking things into my body I know nothing about. He gives me great detail on everything he recommends, but at the end of the day it's my decision.

He knows me and how my body has reacted to what I've used. I also train most weekends with him so he a bloody good idea of how it's all working.

I wouldn't recommend anyone getting into supps without advice from people who have been there and done it.

I wouldn't change it if your instinct says its working - there are a few things that don't agree from my point of view but every trainer/expert has a different approach. Watch and learn I guess - your transformation is going to turn a few heads in any case mate.

You hit that right on the head optimass!!!

The key thing I learnt from my own experiences is that the best "so called" experts are the ones that have your own interests in mind and don't advise you to do the same as what they did and expect just because it worked for them it will work for you. The best advice will come from the experienced persons that will look at you as an individual and make suggestions that might work for you.

Hi old fella

I just got back in to training myself and not far behind your age. Will be laying the foundations for a couple of months and then will be dipping my toe back into gear use. Small doses at first but have had some good advice on keeping a constant check on my blood pressure. Will follow your posts and see how you doing in the future.

Good look and age is no barrier to looking big.. :)

  • 4 months later...

Thought I'd finish this thread off as I've done my comps and am now completely refocusing.

2009 On stage - 66kgs - 6%BF

2011 On stage - 75kgs - 6%BF

Doing the comps has given me my biggest personal win of putting on 9kgs of muscle over 24 months. The only way to find out for sure was to diet down for competition.

I will now spend at least 2 years solid Powerbuilding / Powerlifting. Then I'll give some thought to a qualifier and Nationals. So I can tick it off my "bucket list".

Bodybuilding diets go out the window. I'll run mainly on food and worry about supps later. It'll be a challenge to get out of BB diet mode, but I'll give it a crack.

Will I do gear again? As above I'll worry about it later. Doing what I've done hasn't put me off it. Yes, I believe I got great gains from it.

Sides? The worst on one particular cycle was the urge to "root" anything that moved. Took a lot to control it, a pill to do it would have been preferable. Never suffered gyno, bad acne, or massive water retention at all. Few back zits now and again.

Greatest short term gains were on a slin cycle, but the downside was too much weight too quickly and put pressure on my heart and BP.

Worst the BP got was 168 / 108, but this was also due to work stress. Now down to a normal 140 / 90. Doc says it's acceptable.

What I didn't particularly like? ED pinning.

Near the end, due to some of the gear I was using my delts were hard to not only get the pin in but to also get the gear in. Only ever used delts and quads. Tried glutes once but got cramp doing it and a got friggin sore arse cheek for a few days.

What have I tried? Shit, what haven't I.

You still can't beat a good test e cycle with a bit of dbol at the start. Mast and eq are also a couple good products.

For fat cutting clen and T3 were great.

As I can't be arsed doing a journal it'll be head down and weights up. Will come back for some light entertainment now and again.

Get bigger - get stronger - nothing else matters.

Great overall result M8. You got to be happy with that. Whatever you choose to do, be happy & enjoy. :D

Was all good till I popped a shoulder today. Worst it's been but will just have to keep getting my sorry arse down to the gym and work through it.

Current mantra

Get bigger

Get stronger

Leave nothing behind

Leave no doubt

Hopefully it'll get me through the next 2 years.
